Character Count on NW

Hey

They give a character count on Northwestern's secondary but Im able to paste in more than 2000 characters. Will it get cut off when they recieve it? Is it ok to go over by ~100-200 characters?

I thought I was okay too, until I hit the final submit button with five minutes to spare before their deadline. They told me it was too long and I had to go back and crop the essay without making it sound disjoined and pay in about four minutes or so...talk about a rush.

No you can't go over, it won't let you. it just won't let submit.

is the deadline eastern time or central time?

I honestly don't know, but my best guess would be central time because that is where chicago is.

yeah it was cutting it close...it is central time...at least that was what the lady in the admissions office said...I was on vacation and checked my email when I got back and I had a day to do the thing. The lady told me it would take only 20 minutes...what a joke! Anyway, I was not as bad off as that other NW poster waiting until the last minute.

do you guys think the first question about why medicine is really important to answer if its already been pretty well-addressed in pers statement? is it bad to leave something blank in other words?

I was talking about Mistress S...sorry I didn't mean to be a jerk, Haybrant. To answer your question I would put something down. The first essay was very similar to my PS, so I just talked about something else. Hope this helps. 😀

Actually, they go by Central - 2 hrs pacific time I guess.. I submitted my app at 11:57 PM central time, and the confirmation page says I submitted 21:57 (9:57 PM).
