So how do i not spend $7 per passport photo? The mall photobooths are too bad in quality, and the passport photo places are too expensive. Any ideas??

Take one with your digital camera, crop it to 2"x2" in Photoshop, then print it up at CVS or someplace. Cost me $0.29 😀

You are going to spend thousands of dollars applying, hundreds of thousands of dollars on school (if you are lucky) and you are worried about spending a few extra bucks on a passport photo?

I also took my own photo, cropped it to 2" x 2", then copy and pasted it 5 times into one 4" x 6" picture. The result: 6 pictures for $0.29.

If you can find a "Kodak Picture Maker" machine at a drugstore photo section, the machine will do this for you. Bring your digital photo file. The machine should have a "passport photo" option and it lets you crop your digital photo right on the machine and print 6 passport photos per 4"x6" sheet.

this is the best option out there. and you get to choose the picture you use. you can take as many pics as you want until you get the one you like.

you can look for a trial version of online printing service if you really want it 😀

you picture doesnt have to be printed in 2x2 as long as the picture size is not too big, you can cut it at home.

I think costco/sam's club was pretty cheap...maybe like 3 or 4 bucks?

I got my passport photos at CVS. It was either $6.99 or $7.99 for 6.

hey rite aid right now has free (2) photos passport size after rebate

i got two sets today for ds apps.

take some digital pictures and go to walmart and get them wallet sized, worked for me!

sometimes in the stores they'll prevent you from printing out passport pictures for the cheaper regular pic rates. i recommend using ofoto or shutterfly once you copy and paste six 2"x2"'s on a 5"x7" layout w/ white borders between each pic.

As mentioned,

Take your own digital image, take it to a camera shop, they print you perfect sized pics for pennies.

It is probably the easiest part of the application process and by far the cheapest. It is hardly even worth a thread.

I just cropped mine in Adobe, then made an 8.5 x 11 page of them, and printed just one sheet of 8.5 x 11 photo paper.

I took pictures, edited on my computer and printed at home. (Did this for my family's passport pictures) I guess if your printer is not good enough you could just take them to good ol' Wal-mart or CVS. (CVS had a coupon for free 10 4x6 pictures not too long ago!) They are pretty quick and convenient!

ahhh Cohen, nice work, from a fellow jew to another, i am impressed

I went to Costco...they run $4.99 per 4. I got 20 because I am applying to a lot of schools, and have no idea how many will want them. The great thing about Costco, is that if you tell the person this is for an application they'll snap several shots of you, show you the digital, and let you pick which one you like best. I think she took about 4 pics of me.

With this kind of thinking, it would be easy to go nuts and over-pay for everything. A few extra bucks here and there really adds up.

I'm doing this too👍

Way to go to impress adcoms!

While at Costco-pick up a hotdog/drink combo for $1.50....its the best (cheapest) date spot too.

costco? 1.50 hot dogs? who ARE you people? my passport pictures, much like my license pictures, make me look like im falling asleep, so i used headshots that i had taken.

I had some photos taken when I was graduating without cap and gown. I scanned it and printed at home using photo printer which I paid $20 after rebate. I came out just like how professoinals did it and I can reproduce it at home whenever I want.👍

a few extra bucks saved is a few extra bucks earned

They wouldn't let me have 6 though. The charged me 7.99 for 2 and wouldn't allow me to make copies on their kodak machine, so I had to take it to another store (Walgreens) and do it there. I would have done it with my digital camera, but I was really anxious to turn in my app and it was only 7.99 compared to all the other fees I've already paid.

Hmmm... Didn't know that, I guess I am going to Costco more often then!

Don't forget the $1.99 for a huge piece of pizza, $1.35 for a berry smoothie, $1.50 for a sundae. It is easy to please my wife, except for the fact they replaced the Costco pretzels with those damn churros.
