Checking Application Status

Hey all,

So after sending in my first batch of applications via certified mail last week, I've been checking my status online to see if my materials have been received. I've only received one receipt in the mail (today) so far - and my online status for that school is still negative. My status for another school is confirmed, although I have not received the receipt yet. Another school is still up in the air.

I know that the offices are at their busiest now but I'm wondering how long I should wait before contacting the schools directly about the receipt of materials if my online status is still showing up as negative. Also, do most schools take the time to sign and return the receipts on certified mail? I've had an experience before where a receipt was not returned even though the mail was received.

You are very patient! I have been on the phone daily with programs since I submitted my apps to make sure that my applications are complete. I had 2 schools lose my transcripts and had to resend them overnight mail. One school didn't receive my GRE scores and I had to call ETS to resend them. I also had transcripts misfiled under my maiden name. I would definitely suggest that you call the programs if you sent them awhile ago. You never know, with all the apps that they receive, whether everything did get there and was filed correctly. I did not have negative experiences with any of the people at the admissions offices and everyone has been very helpful. They've definitely helped a lot and I have 11 complete apps so far!
