100 grams of a compound of unknown identity is dissolved in 10 L of h20 to produce a soln w/ ph 0f 2. Which statement is true
A) The compound is a weak base w/ a formula weight > 100g/mole
B) The compound is a strong base w/ a formula weight < 50g/mole
c) the compund is strong acid w/ a formula weight > 100g/mole
d) The compound is a strong acid w/ a formula weight < 100g/mole
The correct Answer is D and thats what i picked when i was taking the test because i figured you need a really really strong acid to drop the pH this low and all if not most of the 7 strong acids have a molar mass less than 100g/mole. But know that im looking over my answers i have come to think its C
What am i doing wrong???
pH 2 = 0.01 M of H+
Molarity= moles/liter .01M = (100g/x) / 10L x= 1000 g/mole
Thanks
