Hey all, even though many schools I have looked @ don't require chemistry as a pre-req as some others do, has anyone taken chemistry just to make it look good? and just to be safe?

I also noticed that Chemistry is not required at many schools.
It would be more correct to say that it is no LONGER required.

[Begs the question as to why they have done this.
There were some schools in the NY area that wanted 8 credits of chem. I avoided those, and now they don't want them? 😡 sorry to go off topic]

To answer your question, I would say not to volunteer chem unless you know what you are doing. Bear down and get your A's in A&P - they will stand out and you will definitely use that info down the line.

IF you are the kinda person who can get A's in Chem you may want to keep going past OT, IMHO.

thanks alot for the insight man, and yea, all of sudden it has been dismiss.. I took general chem, however, I had a issue in the lecture part and had to dropp it but I kept the Lab and got a A- so I just might just do the essentials to chem and just Ace that.

I noticed that many schools don't require it, but I am taking it because one of the schools that is one of my top choices (Stony Brook) does have it as a prerequisite. It seems like a waste of money to me, but I feel like I would be blowing my chances of applying if I didn't take it...and trust me, I'm dreading it because I hateddddd chemistry in high school (which was the last time I took it! lol). I believe another school or two that I am applying to may look favorably on the fact that I've taken it, but they don't require it. So basically I'm spending 600 bucks to apply to one school. Yup. Fun.
