Chemistry Problem

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
A couple things:

1. You may want to change your profile pic to protect your anonymity on this internet board
2. Retaking courses won't kill you - For MD applications, your grades will just be averaged. For DO, your grade will be replaced
3. It may do you some good to look over biochem over the summer. And review some of the basic rxn concepts from ochem since they will be built on (and gen chem for that matter). There's no need to go crazy pre-prepping, but reading a bit to keep the brain muscles from atrophying may be useful in your case. Also you may want to aggressively update your study methods (practice problems, office hrs, tutor center) to ensure you come out with a strong grade and understanding when you're done.

I'd spend some time with molecular models over the summer. Really work on visualizing the molecules and manipulating them without actually touching them.

Using molecular model kits can really help with visualization of structures and chair configurations. For Biochem, you could do some light background reading before the course starts. Perhaps you could borrow an MCAT book from a friend and read over the Biochem section. When you take the course, be sure to maximize your resources. Go to as many office hours/discussion sections as you can, form study groups, and seek tutoring if necessary. There's a lot of information covered in Biochem and it's a fast paced course so do your best to stay on track from day 1.
