Chemistry SI leader

I was recently recommended by my Gen Chem prof to be a SI leader for Gen Chem next year. I'm going to do it mainly so I stay fresh on Gen Chem while i take Orgo and Bio before the DAT but they were saying that it looks really good on resumes and apps because people know what it is.
So my question is, does anyone out there know what Supplemental Instruction is? Will the adcoms know? will they care? 😕

If no one knows what it is, I'll tell you all and you can tell me if you think it will help my app or not.

Yes, I did general chemistry II SI. Some may now what SI is, but that is not the point. You will refine your teaching, leadership and many other skills. They will care only if you take something away from the opportunity.

all very true points and i'm very excited about those benefits in addition to cementing chem in my brain. i just wasn't sure if it was something i should put on my app (eg. would it be ec or would they think i was trying to make a mountain out of a molehill).

but so glad that at least one person knows what it is! 🙂

I did PAL (The Remedial Math version of SI) and I thought it really added something to my application. Shows leadership and teamwork - very important aspects for a dentist.

Think about it... The goal the general dentists is to educate their patients about oral health and preventative dentistry. So, what else can teach one to be a better educator? Teaching. You can work SI teaching into being a large asset in your application.
