Chemisty research?

Hi all 🙂 I'm applying to the MD/PhD program this year and, as I'm sure is common, am really nervous about my credentials, particularly with experience. I obtained some good clinical experience working as an EMT with my local fire department, but most of my research experience has nothing to do with biology. I worked for 3 years at the US Dept. of Agrigulture in the Environmental Chemistry Lab. I'm working now at the NIH (I have a year appointment here), but is it a problem that the bulk of my experience (outside of academics that is) comes from a chemisty lab?

Just a disclamer: we know how nerve-wrecking the process can be even for the most qualified students, so don't feel bad about venting or coming here for encouragement. Most of us have done it.

Anyway, your research experience won't be a problem. Good luck.

Research is research. Chemistry is just as important as biological, physics, or medical. Also, it could give you an edge if your are thinking of going with a biochemistry heavy program.
