why no one seems interested in this new program, can the people who visited or got accepted give us a clue, i heard it is in a bad area in chicago..please inform us ..thanks

I'm actually interested in their pharm school. My old lab tech in my lab before I took over applied there. She loves it. I wish I had more info for ya though. However, I have heard about it being in a "bad area" as well, but no one seems to ever elaborate on it.

thanks for your reply, i do not know too why no one seems interesting, i do not know about the area too, but i know some people here applied and got accepted...😱 ...we need more info

I went onto Google Earth, and the area around the school does look quite rough. I don't think one should be hanging around there late at night too far from campus. But anyone can be free to tell me otherwise. However, I have been to Camden, NJ and Liberty City in Miami and that is very bad.

Hey, I'm in the program... you can PM me for Direct questions or facebook me, James Lott (Id like that better).

Basically, the area of town that Chicago State is relatively safe... the campus is in basically its own established land and no one that does not attend the university usually comes to cause any kind of a disturbance on campus.

The freeway is right near campus so it makes a very nice commute, like 15-25 min from Downtown chicago. But once again, it is on the southside of Chicago, but no one has had any problems with anything involving the neighborhood thus far, and the neighborhood is not a threat to the campus.

Two problems being (1) bad neighborhood and (2) are they fully accredited?

Ok, because I have spoken to someone and they told me it was like Howard University's set up, but whatever... I could kinda care less. Also, Do you know Chichi??

I am interested in Chicago St. I think it would be exciting to be a part of a new, developing program.

I talked to a friend who lives in chicago, he told me that the area is BAD, you can get shot easily, i do not know,,the school it self looks good 😕

I'm from Chicago, and yes the area is bad.

I guess it's all perception. Cause I, personally, keep getting mixed answers.

It's located in an area of Chicago where many people do not like to venture into. I guess it's not THAT bad for people who have been living there a long time, since they're already used to it. But it might be a different story to those who are coming from safe gated communities in the suburbs.

It's not too bad if you stay on-campus, but I would not advise walking around at night. Personally, I wouldn't attend a school where I constantly have to worry about my safety. But that's just me.

Does this school require the PCAT? If so, does anyone know the average PCAT score?

i got an e-mail 3 months after i submitted my application/supp. from CSU. They need a notarized copy of my PTCB certificate. That seems absurb.

Now, I have to go to a bank to get a notarized copy and send it to them?

I submitted my application and supplemental material awhile ago but never received any email notifying me that I need a copy of a PTCB certificate.

ohhh you made a regular copy of your certifcate too? I didnt know it needed to be notarize. I just got the e-mail yesterday from Amalia Diaz? I wrote her back but she hasn't replied. Maybe I should call her to make sure I need to get it to them soon.

LIKE I SAID... ONCE MORE...

THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS NOT DANGEROUS.

As an out of state student, coming from a different state just to come to CSU, and we have students from Ohio State, Purdue, UCLA, Loyola, Depaul, PLENTY from UIC, Univ Florida, Univ of Michigan...etc...

They would all agree that the campus and neighborhood are relatively safe. And for the closed-minded people who need furthur evidence, most of these people are non-black people and they would still say its safe.

So ONCE MORE... WHEN WE COME TO SCHOOL AND LEAVE SCHOOL, SAFETY IS NOT SOMETHING WE WORRY ABOUT.

Interviews are starting very soon, if you have one good luck to you! And as always PM me or facebook me if you have questions!

P.S. Yes I know ChiChi thats my girl!

On their webpage it says for "2009 Admissions" that they require 8 credits of Physics(Physics I and Physics II). They already have the requirements for "2010 Admissions" and they dropped it down to 4 credits. Anyone else notice that? Also, it says they require the courses to be completed by the end of spring semesters. Anyone know if that is set in stone or if they are flexible on one course being completed during summer?

Do you have any idea what their GPA and PCAT requirements are like??

Minimum GPA is 2.5 and since their is no PCAT score listed, I would think it safe to assume there isn't one.

i got an email today, stating that my application is finally completed and ready for review. Interviews are to start in Dec till March.

I just fedex a notarized copy of my PTCB certificate on Saturday. It was expensive, so I hope I hear some good news from them.

MAKE SURE YOUR certificate is NOTARIZED. They told me 2 months after I submitted the supp. application 🙁

i received an email from them today saying that my pharmcas and supplemental was received. so i guess they will start reviewing applications maybe after holidays :scared:

Why are you all sending a copy of your PTCB certificate? It is not listed on their website or PharmCAS and I was never emailed by anyone asking for it. Most schools require proof of having a pharmacy technician license, not necessarily a PTCB license, after matriculation. Can anyone elaborate?

Illinois Pharm Tech licensing does require that you pass the certification exam 2 years after initial licensure. They are trying to exempt students from that requirement, though.

I will have to eventually take the exam to become certified then. I paid a fee in May to obtain a temporary license in IL as a pharmacy technician and started volunteering in a hospital pharmacy over the summer. Does CSU require that I become a certified pharmacy technician as a requirement for matriculation?

I don't think this is true... I've worked in an Illinois pharmacy since June 2005 and have not had to become certified.

It is a new regulation effective January 1, 2008. You are grandfathered into the old regulations as long as you don't change jobs.

When does Chicago State get it accreditation?

Answer: 2012

do they mean you should make a copy and then get it notarized or the certificate itself has to get notarized?

sorry, i was caught up with the holidays and lost hope in getting an interview... but i just got an e-mail for an interview on 2/18! Anyone else? (sorry there's two threads going on)

Yes, getting my certificate notarized required me to have my PTCB certificate copied and someone had to watch me write a pledge and sign it. Then he signs off on it as an official notary. And then i had him FedEx it to CSU immediately.

In the supplemental application, it asked "Have you successfully completed a Pharmacy Technician certification program? If yes, please provide a notarized copy of the certification document."

I totally missed it when I submitted it. Was I the only one she called out on this part? Well, at least I got an interview! All that time and money wasn't gone to waste. Now, I just have to get a hotel room and air ticket there!

Let me understand this very well.

Are you guys saying that before you will be accepted into CSU-COP, you must have the Pharm Tech Certification? Because I'm currently licensed, but not certified. Just in case USN doesn't open their doors for me.

I think it was just something extra if you were "certified", they would like to see it on your application. I don't think they require you to be certified before you can be accepted..... Right?
