Really? Spill the beans!
Interesting how this article was published the same day the FDA approved a methylphenidate patch for ADHD:

Who is going to "slap the patches on?"

That would rock!
No but seriously I was pretty intrigued in the whole seeing small children and infants thing. I mean think about it, I don't know what kind of tools are available but how many children can be turned away from a life of violence and crime?

Like I have said before, I see 15-20 pts daily for medication management, and get paid well to do so. Most MD's want someone who knows what they are doing, not someone who is either paid off or was trained when phenothiazines and barbiturates were all we had to choose from. There is 1 child psychiatrist in my county............

Well look with more med schools opening, and more child psych fellowships, things should get better.
Add this loan forgiveness program and watch the magic happen. Where do I sign?

The infant thing was interesting...not only to change the direction of their future, but to see any pathology as it initially develops during a person's early life. Fascinating indeed 👍

That's what I thought when I read that part. Perhaps it was just bad research on the writers part.
insurance companies have one fee schedule for all psychiatrists regardless if there's a sub-specialty or not. the rate may vary depending on the part of the country you live in, and will almost always be less than the doctor's billed charge. typically reimbursement is ONLY available for in-office services (usually just 15 min med checks), so phone calls to schools, therapists, etc, are a loss to the doctor.
many of the child psychiatrists I know of do not participate on insurance panels- they don't have to because the service demand is so great. so they're able to charge their full fee, and not be restricted to just med checks if they want to do more. plus, they can charge (if they choose) for their time spent on the phone with schools and such.
