I've been accepted to two schools and I was wondering if I can't reach a decision by the May deadline for the full deposit/refund, would I be allowed to submit full deposits for both schools so that I can wait to make a final decision when classes start in August? I know I won't be eligible to receive a refund for the deposit by doing this, but I just want to know if this is an option, or whether I'm required to accept one admissions offer by May and decline the other.

To make a long story short, my uncertainty has to do with completing a prereq that one school requires and the other doesn't.

Thanks.

Congrats on your acceptances. That being said...........

You may want to consider making your choice sooner. Realize that you WILL be holding a seat from another applicant by doing what you are currently considering. Remember that this is professional school, and as such, we are expected to act as professionals. Holding up the acceptance of another applicant really isn't the way to go. Just think of how you'd feel if your seat were held up by someone who was indecisive.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck on your decision.

👍totally agree with this. Don't hold seats past the deadline.

I understand what you two are saying, but my concern is about what would happen if I accept only the admissions offer from my preferred school while declining the other, and some worst-case scenario type of issue arises and I'm not able to complete the outstanding prereq for my preferred school. In such a situation, my acceptance to the preferred school would be revoked because I didn't complete the prereq and I wouldn't be able to attend the other school either since I would've already declined their offer.

So, yes, I want other students to have their chance also, but I have to look out for my own interests given the scenario I outlined above.

Does anyone have an answer to my original question? Whether I would be allowed keep a seat past May at two schools if pay the full deposit for each?

Probably your best bet is to call the schools to find out. It'll be best to find out now so you have the time to make your choice before the deadline!

Congrats on your acceptances!

I agree with calling the schools and talking to them about it. Not completing the prereq wouldn't be because you couldn't pass it, correct? I mean I'm assuming if you got in, you are a good student and know what it takes to pass a class. So I don't understand how you wouldn't complete it? Unless you have other personal things going on, which could be the case and as the person above stated, I would just stay in contact with the school about it.
