So I received an II and can schedule for one according to their calendar.

Here's the problem:

I'll be traveling to the Mid West (I'm from the east coast) from Aug 17 to Sept 28. I have an interview on the East Coast that I already have a flight back to on the 25th and a flight back to the Mid West (the tickets are non-refundable on the original flight from the Mid West and back so I figured I might as well go back and use it) on the 26th.

I was thinking of scheduling for this interview on Sept 30th when I'm back on the East Coast and can save a considerable amount of money by driving to the place. I'm worried that by that time there will already have been 8 interview session. I'm IS and "competitive" for the school. I applied to around 20 schools and I'd say this may be in the top 10 due to location.

Should I bite the bullet on plane tickets and take an earlier interview during September or wait until the 30th?

People might disagree with me, but I feel like if you interview before the first date that the school offers acceptances, you're in good shape. Since the earliest acceptance is in mid-October (I think), I can't see how you'd be at much of a disadvantage interviewing on September 30th. If they give you an interview invite, the school wants to talk to you; you'll still be competitive. Good luck!

I agree with this, and yes, the first date acceptances are offered is October 15th, per AAMC regulations.
