I got both books out of the library. I think the "expert guide to pain management" is a little easier to read and perhaps a better fit to the philosophy of the clinic. Or maybe it's just that I've never really liked reading those MGH manuals - but I do agree the info in there is helpful. I really liked the website (pain.edu) - did some of the cases on there as well as looked at pain manual on my computer - instant access. 🙂 They actually will send you a copy of for free (so they say) - for those like me who are lacking a printer to smooch off of.
Actually after my first two days of shadowing - which were very interesting 🙂 - I realized I need to do some remedial neurology reading. The management part was a lot clearer to me than the examination/evaluation.
