Hi, All

I'm going to be interviewing at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine next week. I read the interview reports but wanted to know of anyone could please share some additional thoughts about their interview experience at Cincinnati and opinions about the school in general.

Thank you,

Yes,

they made us eat lunch at 11 am. Threw the whole damned day off for me. The hospital is kinda impressive - and they have a new med school going up - which looks to be very nice. But the old building is crummy and you will lose the library for your first year while they do the building.

At least 10 times I heard they had more computers at thier school than any other in the United States. I swear they bragged about this A LOT!! 🙄 Why not also brag about how many water fountains and electrical outlets you have. I just didn't get it.

In any event, for some strange reason they called me a week after my interview and asked me to come down again because the ADCOMs had some specific questions for me. At that point I withdrew.

I really expected to like UC (and not like WSU which I had the next day) but the opposite turned out to be true. I didn't like UC at all, and I thought WSU was really great. That runs counter to 99% of opinions out there, so take my heretical opinions with a grain of salt.

When are you going to interview? I have an interview scheduled for 3/2.

lilgecko,

I'm interviewing the week on Feb. 23rd. I thought that this was the last interview date. I hope I'm not interviewing for a waitlist position.

BTW, when does Cincy announce it's decisions? Anyone know?

Thanks,

I am interviewing the same day. I dont think we are interviewing for the wait list. I have a friend who had a late interview there in march and she was accepted. I heard they interview through March and just give out their last interviews in Feb. Their admissions is on a rolling basis and they get back to you in two weeks. See you on the 23rd.

I interviewed there late november. I felt I was asked some difficult questions, so I was surprised when they responded 6 weeks later with an acceptance. I didn't think their lecture halls were in great condition compared to the research center. But I do overall feel strongly about the school eg research, curriculum, clinical training and student support system. Additionally I get a friendly impression when interacting with the admin staff. Overall, my sense is that Cincy is an up and coming institution.
Good Luck on your interview. SND interview feedback was good prep source for my interview.

W222,

Good luck to you. I've decided to cancel my Cincy interview. I've already gotten into Temple which is more appealing to me than Cincy since it's much much closer to home. The fact that Temple has a kick ass clinical reputation and got its probation status removed also doesn't hurt. Hope someone who really wants to go to Cincy gets my interview spot!

Thanks,

hopefully you have a morning interview...the way it worked for us was that there were morning interviews, presentations for a few hours, then afternoon interviews - meaning the morning interview people got to leave...i think i got out of there at approx 1 pm

and it might be possible to hear back fairly early...i received my acceptance about 2 weeks later, and i live in CA so it takes about 5 days to get here...what my interviewer told me was that it all depends on how fast they feel like typing up a summary and giving it to adcom...apparently her last interviewee's report still hadn't been typed up, and it was overdue a couple weeks...guess she got to mine a little faster...my suggestion is to drop a thank you letter in the mail the same day, there could be a chance the interviewer will be grateful and type up the summary a bit sooner

oh and this was probably my most stressful interview, mainly b/c the doctor seemed to want to pick at every little thing i said, but by that time i already had another acceptance and it didnt affect me as much as it probably might have otherwise...just be confident in your answers and you'll be fine...also they sent another doctor into the room to "just observe" the interview but he ending up asking about half the questions, so it was more like 2 on 1...he seemed to be more on my side though, even mildly arguing with the other doctor on the validity of my responses...it was like good cop/bad cop....reading the comments on interview feedback should probably prepare you quite well though...good luck!!
