Do civilian contractors make similar salaries to military physicians?

How would one go about finding these positions? Are they usually hard to get?

They make much more than military providers (or they did in my specialty).

Hard to get? Yes and No.

usajobs.gov simply does not have every job listed. If you are interested in a military base/hospital, check into it there and they will guide you to the appropriate contractor.

Some places are easy to get, but they tend to drag their feet at hiring/credentialing, which means that most potential contractors become frustrated and seek other jobs.

I have seen these jobs posted on the Army Hospitals own websites. Find the website for the place you want to work and see if they have their openings listed there. It seems like the openings for contract doc's only appear on the hospitals website and not USAJOBS (which is for Civil Service jobs). Good luck.
