1. Don't know, try a search
2. No restrictions - DOs can enter any specialty

I don't know that information. However, there are a couple of Candians who are applying that I've seen post on here. Perhaps one of them will chime in. You can also check the AACOM website for details on individual osteopathic medical schools.

2. are DO's restricted to certain specialties? is surgery one of them?

There is absolutely no restriction in the United States. Both MD's and DO's are licensed to practice the full scope of medicine, as physicians. A little more than 60% of DO's practice in primary care, but DO's are represented in every medical specialty. In practice, there is very little observable difference between MD's and DO's, who practice side-by-side, as colleagues, to a common standard of care. The most commonly agreed upon difference between DO's and MD's is that DO's learn an additional modality, OMM/OMT, in which they can use to diagnose and treat conditions. Please check out the conveniently prepared FAQ at the top of the forum listing. It will likely address your questions.

1. Yes
2. Yes

This is false. They are not restricted in any specialty.

you are correct. i was really tired when i posted last night!

Just recently Canada had a nationwide acceptance of DOs as fully licensed physicians. Although the actual practice rights (fully licensed physicians vs OMM practitioners) is a provincial matter, it seems the entire nation is now in agreement. At least thats what my sources tell me.
