I know. I just get tired of having to fight all the time about "URM status". It gets old getting beat up all the time. I am a fighter but even the best and the strongest fighters get tired.
 
I'm glad that the thread left you with things to think about. One of the better things that comes from those types of threads is that now and then someone will see something from a different angle than they did before. It doesn't matter what views they held before if anything in the thread helps their understanding or spurs them to think a little more broadly, then something was accomplished. Ejay said something in one of them once that I would never have known otherwise, and it altered my own views. I appreciate the insight that I wouldn't have had otherwise.

Please don't carry the topic itself over into this thread. Use this place to take a break from it. 🙂 That's a friendly request from a tired mod.

I mainly have been posting over on the Texas thread for the past few weeks since those are the only schools to which I'm applying. But now that I'm officially apart of the c/o 2013 :hardy::hardy::hardy: I figured I'd come over here too.

Was very pleasently surprised to have my mailbox filled with acceptances from all 3 schools that interviewed me: Texas Tech, A&M, UTHSC San Antonio. I have never expected multiple acceptances, so I hadn't even thought about ever in a million years having to make a choice. But this is a welcome surprise!

Ugh, I am not ready for genetics tomorrow. I JUST realized that they posted a problem set... and the midterm is at 8 AM...🙁

Congrats - great school! Yes, I have chosen, but I have to see if my choice accepts me or not (*cough cough* Columbia!) If I'm rejected there, then I don't know where I'll end up - I'm waiting for financial aid to come out. Of the acceptances I have I'm leaning toward Maryland at this point. 🙂
 
good luck on that genetics exam funky! I have just kinda bailed on my EC's... or rather taking a slight break from them to focus on ballet and relaxing LOL.
have you all chosen classes for your next and last semester of college (this is for the seniors out there! lol)?

guys&gals, i need some luck/prayers...my steam is running low for this whole waiting for interviews process especially with people with tons of acceptances already! well, hopefully people will get accepted to enough schools that they'll pick one and withdraw from others so there'll be room for me 🙂

Wow, I have no real science classes next quarter!

And RJ, I wish you the best of luck, and just keep holding on to hope. Remember, the Chicago schools are slow... my sister was supposed to interview for UIC on May 10th last year, so you still have time. I am sure you will do fine. Good luck!

What was tested on your genetics test? That was one of my favorite classes (and I was a preceptor for it my senior year).
 
Class of 2013 will be the greatest medical class since the one that invented (insert medical breakthrough here)

I remember what I did on my 21st birthday.

I thought "Oh boy! I can buy whatever drink I want." So I went to the local grocery store to see what they had. I looked and looked and looked at their drinks. All different kinds of wines and beers and harder liquors.

...and I ended up buying a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks 😉.

I love ANYTHING pumpkin! I think I've tried it all - pumpkin pie, bread, cake, coffee, coffee creamer, donuts, ice cream, muffins, pastries, scones, and even pumpkin spice milk (it was yummy).

Exactly 😀 I just had a pumpkin muffin myself a few moments ago. It's a good flavor. And Starbucks is pretty successful with their lattes.

7-Eleven had one a few years ago (pumpkin muffin with cream cheese center) that was divine. It was also probably 800 calories, but it was worth it! :laugh:

Actually, I had one that my mom made. She makes delicious fresh pumpkin muffins.

and 2-3 ballet classes
 
Ah turning 21. It's a little bitter-sweet since it's the last milestone birthday until you turn 30.

yeah. after 21 its just "the twenties".

sadly I have a hard time remembering how old I am sometimes 🙁

that never happened before this year. I hit twenty three and got a complex. if someone asks me, I usually say 24 or 22. I can't fathom 23. So weird.
 
Have any of you ever heard of citing things in AP style? 😕😕😕

This girl in my group INSISTS that we have to cite things in AP style and I'm kind of lost. I've never done it before and the teacher never even mentioned what format he wanted.

Ugh yup. I had to do that in all my neuroscience classes. I had a book that was dedicated JUST TO APA style. You really couldn't put it down, let me tell you.

Wait, do you mean APA? I've never heard of AP style, but my professors insisted on APA style. There was even a whole book on it in the campus bookstore.
