Anyway, that guy was a tool. Just because SF rejects someone does not mean they are a bad MCAT teacher... I remember there was a 41 MCATer who got rejected from SF... does that make him a bad med school applicant also? Wow, those are the kinds of people you hope gets a 16J on the MCAT... we are going into medicine... we need compassion... our egos will be inflated enough after we become doctors, but people like Bob, their heads will explode from having such humongous egos.

Yeah, I mean to be totally honest, I think that John Doe is a far better teacher than I am. I was shocked that someone would judge him like that. I mean, I don't know that someone with one year of graduate school is suddenly far more qualified to teach the MCAT than someone who has been an undergrad for 7 or 8 years (due to traveling circumstances). And yeah, I think my eyes popped out of my skull when I heard the 'didn't even get a secondary from UCSF'. Last I checked UCSF is NOT located in the Caribbean...

Congrats amph! you will love vandy for sure, because seriously, whats not to love? They really do have everything to offer (accept maybe a beach within 6 hours).

Anybody else have an ENTIRE WEEK OFF for thanksgiving 😀?

I don't know what to do with myself (the importance of finals week on the horizon has dwindled a tad....). Part of me wants to push it hard for some lovely A's so that maybe Vandy will reconsider my undying love.....but then again, I can't find much motivation at the moment.

I have one class on Monday.

I live with my parents. I NEED to stop living with my parents. :smack:

There's something to be said for saving money for the future and there's something to be said for my own sanity.

Maybe I'll just start going to other peoples' classes.

I love living with my parents... I try to come home every weekend cuz I like it at home... granted, it is nicer that I can do other stuff during the weekdays when I am at school, but it is not that bad... at least for me...

I think I could deal with every weekend. I can't deal with every day. 🙁

Most of the time it's great, but there are certain problems my parents just can't help me with.

I guess I understand. I lived with them for the first two years of undergrad, but after that I think it might be different living with them for med school, not that I would mind... considering how expensive med school will be... I actually do not know if I will be able to handle it, because I am more used to being more independent... my parents worry too much about me when I am home though...

i hear that. when i'm back from school, especially during the summer, i'll get a phone call if i'm not back before 2. i mean, i appreciate the fact that they care and all, but i feel that's a little unnecessary

Heh, I totally would give you a hand but you *might* not like how it turned out...I can compose a little song about it though 🙂. You would have to download a free version of Finale to hear my composition, though.

I do, but they're not in a format most people can listen to without downloading specific software. And some of the compositions are just on manuscript paper. I'll have to work on creating a file I could post in this thread.

I'm a little self-conscious, too, so I would only want to post my best stuff.

It's funny y'all started this conversation because I indeed have a whole week off for T-giving. It's because I quit my job and moved to a different city from my parents house. I gotta say, living with the 'rents has its ups and downs. At least three times already I've thought of something I need (pliers, lightbulb, masking tape) and realized that I don't have any. It's funny when you realize exactly how few things you actually own.

I hear that, I've lived at school for 3 1/2 years now and I STILL feel as if I have none of the "daily life essentials." Oh I need to tighten a leaky bolt or the battery harness to my car, wait no tools. I need tape/paperclip/rubber band/sharpie/stapler/ink for my printer, I just have NOTHING.

Pianola, I second the desire to hear some work, and I would even be willing to download some software to do so, (freeware that is). Who knows, maybe you could become my favorite study-tunes composer 😱.

This is extraordinarily true. In college I was always having to go out and buy those little essentials like staples, thank you cards, 3-hole punch, etc. that I would use a few times. Took up a lot of time to remember/buy each thing as it came up, but there just wasn't a need in the beginning of the semester.

Strictly speaking, I specialized in performance so most of my performances were of other peoples' work (Bach, Liszt, etc.)

Heh, nothing like a beautiful, flowing ball gown with a matching ski-mask! (The ball gown is typically what is worn for concerto performances.)

You can do a Phantom of the Opera type of mask... I think it goes well with formal wear...

and LFW, as for missing random items, i definitely hear that. last week when it got really cold here, i was rudely reminded i didn't have my winter jacket up at school. kinda tough to drive 14 1/2 hours back home to get it too.
that'll change next year though when i'm living approximately 20 minutes from my rents tho.
 
hey y'all! hope all is well in 2013 land. I'm sick, fightin a mild pneumonia or severe bronchitis. been on the nebulizer for 4 days or so and not turning around yet so I'm headed to the doc tomorrow morning. fun fun. I don't have good luck with health and thanksgiving... I'm almost always sick 🙁

but.. its turkey break from work and school so that makes me happy!
