That is precisely the reason why I never took a year off...

EDIT: Oh my god, I am addicted to SDN... I usually sleep at 10 PM, but it is 11:25 and I am still on... and I have done about 1000 posts in the past two months... I need therapy...:laugh:
 
I'm here too! I just got back from my 4 day, 3 family thanksgiving dinner weekend.

I actually applied here to appease my father, since my sister is in Virginia, and it is pretty close by, and I got an interview invite a week after I submit my secondary, my interview was basically the interviewer trying to convince me to come to Maryland, and how it is a great place, and I got my acceptance in exactly three weeks! I at first was so surprised that so many people were asking for the Maryland in the Lucky Interview thread, and when I went, I realized why...I really liked the school and the location, and I am so confused...

Oh and my parents want me to stop going to interviews, because money is a factor for us. I am actually middle of middle class, not upper class...🙄 My parents do not want to waste money for me to go to schools which I might not go to. The only reason that I had to apply to so many schools was because A LOT of my dad's coworkers kids did not get into medical schools, and he was afraid that I would not get in either... plus I have the 3 strikes against me, considering I am an Indian male from California, it is supposed to be harder for me to get into medical schools...😕

Sinai gives out very few merit scholarships, I think the fin aid guy said they give out 2 and compared it to winning the lottery, so assuming the 2 schools have equal need-based aid (big assumption I guess), and assuming you're not that excited about Sinai, it might not be worth it to fly out there for an interview...NYC is very far away, that's a very expensive trip.

EDIT: Also, it's nice to have your "problem."

I don't want to make decisions before actually visiting the campus, there's a lot that a school can't communicate to you through their website, both good and bad, as I have found out...I am liking Penn's curriculum, but again, withholding judgment.

Oh no, I really like Sinai, because it is my NY school... it is just too expensive...🙁... Although if I get waitlisted by UCSD, I am gonna go.. my policy is that if I have to go OOS, then I need to check out which location is the best for me, although I would kind of like to stay instate...

Hi LFW, hows it going? Sorry to hear about the unemployment status, but are you actively looking for a job, or are you just waiting for med school to begin?
 
im kinda counting down the days until I come close to the time I may hear from sinai... i would definitely withdraw from a few schools at that point....

cant believe the long weekend is over and i have to go back to school tomorrow... so not up to it or ready to start doing work again. i pretty much completely chilled this weekend and didnt do much of anything

Oh don't feel sorry for the unemployment. It was by choice. I quit my job in my hometown to move to the city where my med school is. I'm currently looking for some crap job to fill the time between now and August. It's only been, like, a week since I quit, so I haven't been out of work for long.

I'm just going to fall back on the places I have experience with most likely. Not really looking for something with much responsibility.

Sinai seems like an awesome school... I do not know if I can justify the tuition though...

I am a Kentuckian indeed. That's probably pretty apparent from my frequent posting in the UK and UofL secondary and class threads.

I did make a decision on which city I want to live in right now, but if the other one gives me a better financial package I'll have to reconsider.

😀 hehe. I like it! OK, yeah, the symptoms are lots of sneezing and dizziness. Heh. Go for it class of 2013 :laugh:.

I think for kicks I want to go to Panda Bear's ER with a slight cold. Just so I could say "hi" and probably annoy him endlessly because I'm wasting his time and precious resources. 😉

Actually, ironically, I got a blood test for lupus about a month ago and it was negative. So we can rule out lupus. (Also no malar rash or anything).

Wassup FunkDoc! It goes well my man! My Howard interview is 12/16. At least that is the date I requested. They gave us a choice of 5 dates(december 2, 3, 9, 10, 16). I should be getting a conformational email this week so I can book my flight. Thank you big guy! I am looking forward to the interview.

wake is tomorrow evening, but there's no way I can make it... its about 2.5 hrs away and I have class (and a mini presentation). sucks. 🙁

in other news I'm still coughing a lot but I feel as tho my sats are up to 96-97 now. few more days and I should be much much better.

Apartment hunting and checking out my new city this weekend!!!!
