Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I may take a research position next summer, but besides that... unemployed. FOUR years. I've worked consistently for like, idk, seven or eight years. And off and on doing odd jobs since 5th-6th grade (babysitting, office filing, etc).

why do I (and so many others) hate the dentist?
My dentist never did anything to me. if anything, he's an awesome dentist. He's never hurt me filling a cavity.

But I absolutely LOATHE going.

if I had to choose between going to the dentist and the ob/gyn, i'd pick the ob/gyn.

Sad, huh?
 i'd take the dentist without blinking an eye!

My ob/gyn always tries to make awkward conversation...

i'm confused... was this planned? or did eminem have no idea?

Hello everyone! What have I missed?
Hey folks!

So random question, do your schools have prematriculation programs? I feel like I'm gonna be out of the smart kids clubs because they seem like a huge leg up for when school starts 🙁
I'd like to know this too. My school doesn't have one but I wish it did because I would like to move in early.

Now a related question, how many of you need to get CPR certifications or other such things before matriculation?

I'm pretty sure we all get certified together during the first week or something like that.

I wonder if you are already certified can you skip?

It sounds like it was not planned. Common there is no way in hell Eminem would ever agree to something like that.

I know several of the SUNY schools required incoming students to go out and get certified. In those cases I'm sure students can skip the training provided they can prove they have been certified. If you do it during the first week or orientation, then you probably cannot skip

the only thing we were asked to do was the physical, get a TB test, and at least start our hep B series.

I finished mine (tb and hep b) friday! Yay!

One more shot to get next week and I'm all ready.

I was stressing that before, but it turns out I received just about every immunization years ago.

I didn't get any of the "optional" shots as a kid because I had bad immunization fevers which caused febrile seizures. I haven't had seizures since age 6, but they didn't want to take a chance for quite a while.

Aw, I love my ob/gyn. Seriously, when I think of a physician I would want to be like, it'd be my ob/gyn. Absolutely 100% (although I'm not crazy about the thought of actually being an ob/gyn, but I'd still like to be LIKE her).

My dentist is sort of stupid. He never checks on my teeth for more than 10 seconds and he can't tell a vein from a tumor (true story, cost me $150 to find out I have a vein underneath my tongue). 🙄

Hahaha... that's funny p. My ob/gyn is wonderful too. I'm really hoping I don't have children until I move back from med school/residency just so he can be my doc! I'll find one in the meantime if I must... but I've seen him in clinic and in deliveries (when I was on NICU shadowing service)... and he does a phenomenal job.

That makes sense. See I thought I may be missing some of the optional shots, but I don't know that those shots required preregistration were optional in my school district.

My ob/gyn is always pregnant... but she's pretty cool. I just don't feel like talking about my boyfriend during breast exams  She doesn't seem to mind haha

that hysterical episode of South Park is on 😆 love it

I guess that's a benefit of a male ob/gyn (i never thought I'd see a male but he came so highly recommended and my sister uses him, I went w her and met him)... he'lll never be on maternity leave! 😆

well it is time for me to get some rest. My parents are gone so I have to get my lil sister ready for school... which means I have to wake up tooooo early 🙁

I'm not having children lol

and good luck to BD. He takes his first exam tomorrow! :soexcited: let em know who's boss! I know you are going to do great 😀

Yeah, that's a little awkward. Maybe that's why I get along with my ob/gyn -- I'm always single whenever I see her (I haven't seen her in the last 6 months obviously).

Haha, night Lyss!

Yeah, I think in most cases I would actually prefer a male ob/gyn (for reasons that I've always found difficult to explain). I just happened to find a very good female one, I guess.

I was always in school well before my mid-august birthday. sad.

I think my little cousins actually start the same day this year that I start med school. At least some of them. Most of them will start orientation week though (3rd-7th)

how does a normal 23 year old smell. Hmmmmm not trying to get graphic but I some 23 y.o girls back when I was 22/23/24 who ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm smelled like they lived down by a fish market :meanie::laugh:

so you don't smell like mothballs either?

You smell like flowers...hon? Or are you one of those girls that puts on all that fruity lotion?
I hate you, lol. I smell like ..... my body wash. Johnson & Johnson shea butter or something.

How do you somehow lose your shirt? lol

2 weeks raaska? if mine wouldve been two weeks, I wouldve done it.. mine was too long.

I'm gonna be brave/stupid, and dive in headfirst aug 4th.
Yup 2 weeks 9-5, then the boys come down to Austin (or maybe just Swarley ) then one week mandatory orientation. Official first day-July 27th.

I am looking forward to meeting new people more than trying to get ahead 🙂

:laugh::laugh: That made me laugh pretty hard, OMBD.
