Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Boo for being sick 😳

Speaking of which, do you guys worry about catching diseases and stuff when we start doing our clinical years?

I'm sure I'll have a few nasty colds/pneumonia episodes. Being an only child and living practically alone, I don't get a lot of exposure normally.

However, going from a class size of 20-25 to 120 may help me get those out of the way during M1-M2

i don't know if you have heard this before miss babydoc, but on peds rotations in 3rd year even people who never get sick often sniffle through the whole rotation. Lots of people get really sick. 🙁 M1 and M2 shouldn't be that bad though. And besides peds, I haven't heard of 3rd years complaining that much.

Yep. I'm going into a dangerous profession.

I probably will a tiny bit. I've become a minor OCD germaphobe in the past two years, but when it's a total lost cause I'm able to suspend it, and I think being in a hospital is going to be a total lost cause for staying away from germs. After working in a BL2+ lab all year, I'm not too worried, so long as it's nothing that's going to kill me or make me miserable!

The week between 7/5 and 7/12 would work for me.

That's possibly my best weekend. 😀

Mkay, you guys have convinced me (it took much convincing, obviously) to catch up with my wii..

Aw man, my poor wii... When was the last time I turned it on? I should play Trauma Center! I was going to play it with my bff but she's played it before anyway and we live on separate continents now. I think I'm allowed to play it by myself.

I've been playing Trauma Center!

Only my wrist hurts already after a period of long inactivity haha.

Is it fun? I never played the DS version either but most of my friends did. For a while, "Not now! I'm saving lives!" was much said by us.

Mr. quirks (giggle) got his OPT card today! (Basically, authorization from the US gov to work in the US for a few months because he goes to college here). He gets to do his Microsoft internship this summer! :soexcited:Which means I get to visit him in Seattle! (I've only barely been off the East Coast of the US, so opportunities to see more of it are always awesome). This does unfortunately mean that I'm definitely not going to Austin, but this is more exciting to me.

Yay gainfully employed boyfriend!

chubs, how much more do you like aecom than unc?
I may like UNC more and I may like AECOM more. Not sure .i mean really how much can you learn from interviews? the thing enticing about AECOM is its P/F for 2 years as opposed to UNCs 1 year, but I may end up hating that who knows. Im really only contemplating the decision because I have lived in this area for the past 12 years, and maybe change would be good..and what bigger change then NC to NYC?

So if I don't go to med school and just stayed in Chicago and helped raise all my little baby cousins would y'all judge me ?

This talk of yours does not help your position Chubbs, lol 😉

Signing a lease on Thursday 🙂 I am so ready/not ready to start this part of life

I signed off that I wanted to see my recommendation letters for residency ... (like 6 months ago)... before I knew what I was doing.

I'll have to renig that at some point before 3rd year.

Raaska just admitted to me she was a freak, hopefuly ill find out in less than a month.

Oh man .... So OMBD as pediatricians can we wear scrubs ? 🙂

That's what I'm wondering... Like, since we can't have coats or long sleeves, can they just set aside a scrub color and let all doctors wear it (and only doctors)?

I've heard from many doctors that once you're an attending you can wear whatever the hell you want to.
