Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Well, that depends on how you look at it. You'd have no job to tie you down, and no taxes to pay (provided you don't have a motor vehicle). You could take up being a wandering minstrel!

you should work for an ad agency. you know how to advertise the positive aspects.

i didn't see this one coming...a secretary position is listed, and it requires 4 years of secretary experience. 😱😕

it would be one heck of a commute for you. 😛

hi guys, i'm at the airport just finished my interview!

it would be one heck of a commute for you. 😛

True that.

My job's pretty sweet although I complain occasionally. They really let me do what I want and there's a lot of perks (such as the tuition pd for classes I want to take). My boss is wonderful.

Part of me will be extraordinarily sad to leave in May.

The other part can't wait to get to med school

hows everyone doing, what's everyone been up to since i've been away

it must be great to have a job you can actually enjoy!

hope your interview went well! we haven't been up to too much...let's see...music, lolcats, journals, thai food, and my failure to find a job.

time flies when you're having fun. 😀

i agree, i have this english that i looooove. and then at the end of class, i'm like what! we're done. nerdy i know but i can't help myself. this is my best class in college by far. i wish i could have taken more english classes. but at least i got to do 4

got to run some more errands.

i'll be back later.

:hello:

You do not like vertebrate seafood, so I suppose dolphins, sea turtles, manatees, and whales are no-nos for you:laugh:

That is cool... I kind of want to do that since I eat a lot of meat, and I need to unclog my arteries, but I like meat too much... maybe if I have to go OOS for med school, and I will not have my mom's delicious home cooking, I will be forced to become a pescetarian...

If you do not want to answer, you do not have to, but is it for health reasons, or religious reasons, that you normally do not eat meat, or is it new age hippie environmentalism?

Ha ha - I typically don't see vertebrate seafood on the menu, so I'm not tempted anyway!

Honestly it all started one day when I just though to myself, "I wonder if I could be a vegetarian? I really like vegetables..." So I did, and I ended up liking it for health reasons. I was a vegetarian (no meat at all) for about a year and then started eating seafood again as a source for protein (and because you have a lot more food choices if you can have seafood).

It's partly for health, and partly "just because." I've been doing it for so long I don't feel like not doing anymore would be "giving in."

Haha, so you remember earlier today I was freaking out because I couldn't find Mr. Nola's number since my cell phone was at home?

And remember how aznb0y made that comment about memorizing numbers? (which would have been useful in this situation).

Turns out Mr. Nola (the one I incessently complained about not calling me) has memorized my phone number. Haha. I guess that puts me to shame 😳.

For Shame pianola, for shame....

I know, I know.

Haha, and funny news (well sort of funny). My parents are lambasting D.O.s tonight because my sister's got a broken foot. Naturally, it's all the D.O.'s fault. Sorry, I just thought it was funny that I'm perfectly open-minded about the whole D.O. vs. M.D. thing whereas my parents are absolutely going ballistic. I don't know exactly what my parents were expecting this doctor to do...perform magic and fix her foot in 20 minutes? 😛 I don't think M.D.s are able to work magic any better than D.O.s are.

You should have gone to St. Mungo's instead...

Oh and by the way, no offense, but the way your post is worded, it sounds like the D.O. broke your sister's foot:laugh:

But yah, that is bad... next time she should go to a podiatrist?

Haha, yeah she got referred to a podiatrist and NOW my parents are furious that she didn't get referred to an orthopedist! ("This D.O. just REFUSES to send my child to a REAL MD!") My parents are...licensist. 😛

done with my 2nd day of classes! Woo whoo! This semester should be a blast, i've got some innteresting courses lined up. I just got out of Buddhist Thought, which seems very cool.

haha, most people don't even notice that they're being treated by a D.O. usually the pre-meds bring up all the stigma. it's funny to see it happen the other way around.

tableTOP!!!

that's a multimedia tabletop, by the way.

I KNOW! My sister didn't even know what DO stood for. And so I tried to explain it to her. But my parents are just nuts.

I tried to explain that there's no difference in the quality of her care, but my dad keeps saying "OSTEOPATHY" like one would use the word "leech" or "slug".

I have truly nutty parents.

My parents are the same way... they do not trust D.O.s either.... Actually they do not have much faith in doctors in general...

That sounds AMAZING... can you send me the recipe? 😉

And we might be getting a new dog! It's a rescue dog - 2 year old female boxer that's already house-trained, crate-trained, and invisible-fence-trained. There's no adoption fee and it comes with a crate, bowls, toys, dog bed, and a blanket. 👍

She'd be the perfect match for our 4 year old male who thinks he's still a puppy.

i printed it out from a computer on campus, but i got it from sparkpeople.com
they have sooo many really delicious, healthier, and low calorie recipes.

I wish I could give up meat. I have the worst diet known to man kind. I HATE vegetables with a passion. It's so bad I have to see a nutritionist to help me incorporate vitamins and nutrients into my diet 🙁

my boyfriend is like that but he recently started being ok with spinach with salad dressing lol. and iceberg lettuce is pretty gross, agreed lol

*sigh* maybe i should just be a bum until med school starts.
always tempting.. that will be summer for me

I read the first statement, and the quoted portion is talking about dogs, and I thought you were saying that the dogs were delicious and you could find low cal recipies😱

And yes, so do I... I saw The Tales of Beedle the Bard in the grocery store, and I really wanted to read it, but I am already behind in reading for all of my classes...🙁

Mr. Nola 1, pianola 0

these clouds look like they can't decided whether or not to rain. i wish they would just make up their minds!

i bought beedle the bard and it was really nice bedtime stories, so i did just that. i read myself a story and dumbledore's commentary before going to sleep. lol
i will definitely be reading these stories to my kids.

I get to be a bum this summer... my last day of work will be May 30th. And I'll be unemployed for..... 4 years?

Home is nice. I'm breathing again, after a nebulizer treatment. Breathing is always a plus.

On top of that, Dad SUGGESTED (very random) pizza for dinner. I 😍 pizza and could probably eat it every day... he's not the biggest fan. So my pizza nights of living alone (1x week or so) are down to about 1x a month... and tonight was the chosen night. YAY! 👍👍

I have a pretty numeric memory, so if I call someone often enough I'll memorize the number. There are several people that I SHOULD have memorized but don't, but it's so rare we are without those handy contacts lists these days.

good thing you have your sense of smell/taste after that cold so you could enjoy that pizza!

Seriously... It had to rain only when I was walking to class, which takes about 20 minutes, and right when I reached the library to print stuff out... it stopped raining!

Oh nice! I didn't even know those were out yet. I miss HP as well...but I'm kind of glad JK Rowling has resisted the temptation (so far) of writing more HP books that potentially won't live up to the original 7.

I've been so busy lately, and really neglecting this thread.

I'm taking medical anthropology class right now...it's so interesting! My prof is also a midwife and she's given a few at home births just this week. It's interesting to hear about the contrast in how 99% of people here go to the hospital to give birth (increasingly by c-section of course) but in places like the UK its the exact opposite...everyone uses a midwife and they only go to the hospital if its an emergency.
