hehe...sorry i just had to highlight that choice of language because i wanted to take the opportunity to parade my victory over you the other day with my Top Ramen picture 😎

Matt if you somehow manage to matriculate at MCW, I will wear that outfit during the ceremony. I promise.

you know that was a miracle, right? 😛

Eat something low in carbs you should be fine. Anything high protein medium fat, like an egg or peanut butter and milk.

No eggs at the apartment, Peanut butter=salmonella scare, and I do not want milk right now... Maybe I should eat some fruit...

I almost want you to publicly post that picture you're referencing right now so everyone else can see what we're talking about!

Pretty much half of the people here are in the facebook group and can see it lol.

I can just cut the cape short. The white coat should cover everything up when I get the picture taken

Its so sad, I never post in this thread during the school year...its just too hard to keep up cuz i'm not on as much 🙁

Hi everyone!

RySerr, what made you become a vegan?

I took this class called Diet, Disease and Exercise last year...In short, it blew my mind. We read journals and articles and literature on diet and its effect on the development of chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, obesity, etc. Like we went deep down in to the nitty gritty of "What is actually going on in your body when you eat this? Biochemically, how does it affect your heart, your liver, your blood vessels, etc?" One of the books we read at the end of the course was The China Study...that pretty much did it for me (when you put that on top of everything else we had reviewed the semster). I'm not trying to sit here and say "If you aren't eating a vegan diet, then you aren't healthy." You can certainly eat animal products and still have a balanced healthy diet. But for me, I had probably one of the worst diets you could have. I mean, if i was hungry, and i saw something I liked, then I ate it. It didnt matter what time or what it was. This doesnt include vegetables and fruits of course, of which I basically NEVER ate (fruit sometimes, veggies never). And I'm an athlete, so i was lean and in shape...but healthy? No. I was just blessed with a high metabolism i guess. Would that diet have caught up to me eventually? Most definitely (and it does with everyone who eats it). So i tried the vegan thing out (after i learned about what I was doing to my body) and I loved it. It wasnt hard for me to change at all, and i basically just changed at the drop of the hat...one day i had my old eating habits, the next i was vegan. Definitely not the recommended way to do it, but hey I made it happen. haha. so yea thats my story in a nut shell. I think maybe one day ill go back to eating fish on occasion, but as of now I'm very happy with my diet and my lifestyle (i dont live a vegan lifestyle by the eway, just my diet).

did you have some sort of bad experience with eggs?

Not necessarily. I just stopped eating them (its been over a year), and now i cant even stand the smell.

wow, good for you. i prolly wouldn't be able to do that.

:hello: chad! Do you even sleep... you are usually here late!

I usually go to bad after 2 am. Sometimes I have to get up at 7 am and sometimes I get to sleep in. Like right now I have to be up in 5 hours. But if I get more than 2 hours of sleep I'll survive as long as I don't do that every night. I'm very fortunate in that I can sleep for 2 hours or sleep for 10 hours and still be able to function for a long period of time. I'm hoping that my flexible sleeping needs last at least until med school so I don't have a problem with 3rd year rotations that have insane hours.

I'm convinced I have some sort of sleep disorder, though. I think I go into REM sleep very quickly. I can take a 15 minute nap and have very vivid, memorable dreams (which supposedly only occur in REM?)

i'm quite the opposite. it's really rare that i get less than like 6 hours of sleep. i always somehow make room for it, even when life is at its craziest. plus i'm an early bird, i'll sometimes wake up at like 5am. i find it impossible to sleep in past 10am, even if i haven't slept much the night before. i guess i'm solor-powered.
i hope i can somehow change this come 3rd year of med school.

and on that note, i'm going to bed. 🙂

good night! :hello:

Wow, I am the same way...

good night! :hello:

good bye!

😀

i have a (nearly) rock-hard secret method.

i might share it some day, if i'm feeling generous. or if i run out of top ideas, haha. 😛

If I were you...I would keep two tabs open if the post count was creeping towards #50 or #100. One with a reply box set up with a top graphic...and one @ SDN forums. Keep refreshing till you see #50 or #00 post count at the end of the 2013 thread...then switch over to the tab with the pre-made post and hit submit! Would take a few seconds in between refreshes, I suppose but I think it would work. Of course...this could be foiled if the thread was really active...but you are like 100% 😉

Victory!

Morning peeps!

Good Morning! I have an exam in 2 hours, but my girlfriend just demonstrated via skype how much better she will do. My competative nature was like 😡, but then I realized I am more like 😛

You get what you give, and I almost forgot to study for this exam

Not like it matters much at this point though, right? If I were still in school, I'd be coasting for the next four months. 😀

Good luck on your exam!

I think I'm kind of glad I'm not going to ever take classes with Mr. Nola. We play a lot of games -- card games, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, chess and on and on and I have to admit, I'm a little more competitive than I would like to be 😉.

Yeah, board games get competitive real fast 😳 Has anyone ever played Balderdash? That's a fun game, basically tests how well you can BS
