I cannot start doing the westerns until one of the other undergrads comes at 4... but I have class and I need to finish my homework soon...

It was a contest at the school in 1897 for a nickname and mascot.

Ole Miss & Colonel Rebel stuck 🙂

We've got two "state universities". One is known, lovingly, as "Ole Miss". The other (with distaste - oh wait, that's just on a personal level..) is "State" or "Mississippi State"
 
So.... I have a dilemma.

I was offered a role in the summer shows at the amusement park I performed with in the fall. It's a great opportunity and a lot of fun, plus I know a bunch of the people that will be in the shows as well. Only problem is, they need a definite answer by the middle of next week or they're going to give my spot away. I have a callback for a show on Sunday and I doubt we're going to hear anything about casting next week. I don't know what to do!
 
i would take the risk chad but that's just me!

Well that means I'd be graduating with all of those who take a year off for research or a joint degree. 😀

I still haven't made my final decision yet... I think if I get accepted to Columbia I won't request a deferral.

Anyone else have their lips go numb at random intervals with raw carrots or apples? I always wondered if I that was just me, but never asked.:laugh:

My lips don't go numb, but whenever I eat apples with the skin intact, my ears start to ring and I get this itching sensation in my throat. Whenever I eat peeled apples, everything is fine. I must have some kind of mild allergy to apple skin or something.

Even though I'm biased, I truly think Mississippians ARE some of the nicest people ever... it truly is the Hospitality State! 🙂

congrats for your cbc emails, not to raise hopes, but you may have done it!

wait so does anyone have insight in the denial to the request for deferral can you still go for your accepted year.

it's funny how americans call the fruit kiwi. we call ourselves kiwi and so we always call the edible version kiwifuit. when people say kiwi, i used to think when people said kiwi they are referring to me, i was very confused, but now i get it.
 
From what I have heard about deferrals - you can request deferrals from multiple schools (if you have a few that you are considering) up until May 15th. After May 15th when you are down to 1 school you can obviously only request from that school. For the schools I have spoken to about deferring most indicate that you have a spot in the current class until you respond to their offer for deferral. If they deny you a deferral you still have your current spot. If they offer you a deferral, then you hold your current spot until you "accept their acceptance". If you are considering it, I heard that it is best to call and speak with someone in the office after you have been offered an acceptance - discuss your plans etc and get a feel from what they think about what you plan to do during the year.

Remember - you cannot re-apply while holding a deferral 🙂 (Seems obvious but thought I would just throw that out there)

OMG! My old PI's friend is a school teacher and she had two brothers named lemonjello and orangejello in her class a while ago... I wonder if they are the same people... small world!😱

🙁, I know what you mean. It also used to happen to me when I splurged on Sour Power. Those things were so addictive that I didn't care if my tongue stung for a week.
 
Yeah, there can't be too many lemonjello and orangejello's around hahahaha.

Although poking fun at my beloved state - we do have some interesting people here...

"let's name the kid whatever the first thing we see after giving birth is" seems to be a going trend....
