Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
- Ah, funky, good luck with your ATM card. Sounds like it got resolved pretty quickly, but still, that's no fun 🙁

- We have a Sonic in Florida but I don't ever eat there.

(Sobering food for thought if you're in the mood, and no it doesn't require a subscription to pubmed

😍 I love being a part of this thread. It's nice to know how the future doctors of America think (since I know comparatively few IRL).
Hey OMBD, neonatology is on that "especially demanding" list. 🙁

Yay for neo - but I think the especially demanding is allll about how you approach it.

At the NICU i'd most likely work at, the docs rotate - 7 days on, 14-21 off (dependent on when u take ur week of call).
THAT is an amazing schedule to me!
(just in case you guys didn't know, my heart is in the nicu 😍)

I was reading the Doctors Lounge Forum instead of doing my paper, but I found this awesome set of jokes...

My wife sat down on the couch next to me as I was flipping channels.
She asked, 'What's on TV?'

I said, 'Dust.'

And then the fight started.
--------------------

My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, 'I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds.'

I bought her a scale.

And then the fight started.
---------------

I rear-ended a car this morning. So, there we were
alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car. You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny?

Yeah, well I couldn't believe it... he was a DWARF!!!

He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, 'I AM NOT
HAPPY!'

So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then which one are you?'

And then the fight started...

Last one...

So... someone posted in the Columbia thread that the adcom is meeting to select the class next week! :scared:

Good luck everyone! :luck: :xf: If you are planning on sending LOIs/updates you'd better send them tomorrow morning!

Wow I missed way too much.
Yeah we have no couches. As far as I know.

And, Anotherface, I didn't say the LOI was for Columbia.
I was going to send one to columbia, but its probably too late. In any case, most schools are deliberating soon. I hope your LOI makes it in time.
You know...I haven NEVER been to Arby's. I always saw the commercials while watching the idiot box but never ever saw one in the Los Angeles area.

What up Dr. Yoda!!!!!
I don't generally like fast-food, but I Arby's is good. I used to like Roy Rogers but I don't think that place exists any longer.

Yeah, but if there are no rules, sweeps are allowed. Thus, you'll have your face in the ground before you even get the chance.
To me no rules means a whole lot of pain. Vale tudo=:scared: no sir, I don't want you to pop my arm out of its socket with an arm bar.
nice one scarlet. one friend that i was supposed to hang out has a weird phone thing going on. when i call it says "has chosen not to receive calls at this time ..." this makes me worried, it's not like her at all.
, that sounds like something I would do when tired. A few years back when my sleeping habits were worse than they are today, I used to consistently fall asleep at 4/5 and get up at 8 for 830 classes. After weeks of doing that my ringtone (any other spontaneous and annoying noises) really pissed me off. The sound of the phone going off irritated me so much that I felt like stomping on a few cute a cuddly bunnies. My solution was to send all songs to voicemail. Unfortunately, my roomie didn't like that the first time I did that because he missed his mom's nightly phonecall several days in a row.

Do you think I still have time to mail an LOI ? I think that my Thank you may have been sufficient since I enumerated my reasons for liking the school and suggested I was interested in it.

Gotta love not having enough licenses for PubMed/something not working on the University's side. 🙁
That's why I hate research. Its impossible to finish a project or research paper at my school without encountering at least one issue on a database.

For Columbia you pretty much need to send a LOI...

Why do you say that? Is it really that important to dean Frantz?

Yes. Hand written is better too, IME.

Of course there's nothing but anecdotal evidence, but a bunch of us last year compared notes and the three of us that sent LOI got in and the two that didn't, didn't but got into equal/higher ranked schools... of course it could be coincidence, but why take chances? It's not like a LOI will hurt you.

why am I watching american idol? Why were these people chosen? My ears hurt!!!!!!!

Mine was typed. Hope it doesn't make that much of a difference - I felt that typed was more professional.

I 😍 Columbia and I hope Dean Frantz will see that.

The sad thing is that I thought it was a joke...

wait, it wasn't? I mean do derms residents really get massages? I still wouldn't do derm as I'm in love with surgery, but if something happens where I won't be able to physically adequate enough for surgery (very possible), I MIGHT consider derm along with oncology 🙂

Well, I doubt that the residents themselves get massages, but they can't look too harried for their VIP customers coming in for botox treatments and hair removal, so I doubt the residency's all that stressful 😛

oh I see. And I thought Botox was strictly plastic surgery after watching nip tuck haha.

ugh, after anatomy it's difficult to concentrate on stuff haha 5:30 AM tomorrow morning is not looking appealing right now.
