Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So I am signed up for biostats:barf: and molecular micro bio lab :barf::wow::barf: Next quarter is not gonna be fun...

:wow:
Why on earth would you do that to yourself, funkmonk? Didn't you get the memo that you don't get bonus points for taking hard classes AFTER you've been accepted? 😛

I mean, if you're genuinely interested in those things, then have fun; or if you absolutely need all of that to graduate, I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do. But I don't want to enter med school already burned out, hence my super-easy (relatively) last semester 🙂 I may never see some of these college friends again, so I wanted a schedule that let me hang out with them as much as possible before graduation.

Wow, that last sentence was kinda depressing to actually type...

I need 6 units to graduate, and mol bio lab is 4 as is biostats... I need biostats for the slim chance that UCLA accepts me... And actually I am not sure if I need mol-micro lab... hmmm... maybe I could take molecular bio instead... my friends are taking that class....

giving a presentation in 3 hours

who needs twitter when you got SDN.

I need to persuade my non-premed friends to join SDN

Presentation: fun, fun.

You guys are so wonderful. Where else can you get support for making a facebook friend? 😍

I think the 2013ers are inherently nice people, so this is why we support everyone for everything...

Yay, I am no longer taking molecular microbiology lab... I am taking molecular biology instead....😀

Yay, I got a call that, for the 5th month or so, I continue to be on-hold at a particular school. "The new news is that there is no news."

(And yay for phone calls that last til 3 am .. those are the best 👍)

Yeah we were talking about Thailand. It got pretty deep. (He's from Thailand).

Bye.
Now I'm going to finish up my LOI for P&S and all the withdrawal letters.

Yeah. I caved. I had to send an LOI where the I is interest. I hope it wasn't too horribly written but too late to turn back if it is. My friend at the school seemed to think interest really wasn't enough, and that I would need to demonstrate intent, but I just CANNOT do such a thing without financial aid information. I found most of this out within the last week.

I think it's a fairly common feeling, since you don't quite know what you're getting into yet and you hear all these horror stories, so you just start thinking the worst. But, if you look at the numbers, nearly everyone who matriculates will graduate, so the odds are in our favor 🙂

True, good point.

haha I totally know that feeling. and i totally get it for the same reasons lol
dont worry, once you start doing stuff and/or write down what you need to do, its usually not so bad.

That's true. There's something extraordinarily comforting about even just writing a 'to do' list.

So I'm seriously concerned that EVERY applicant to Columbia is writing a LOI.

I think interest and intent are considered separately, Chad. Intent is far stronger. I doubt TOO many people are writing letters of intent.

And the people rejoiced.

Don't worry... that med school sucks anyway, and yes I am still bitter even after all this time😉

Okay!

Now all we need is the chorus going Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!😀

I just realized a moment ago, after so many years, that I only have hair on (well, next to) my right nipple. So odd!

Haha, no actually this is a different school. But I am still on hold at the school you are speaking of as well.

What a nervewracking process.

funky...that picture is serving as the impetus for my decision to leave work and go sleep. I am sick, grumpy, and BROKE as hell.

I see the light at the end of the tunnel...and that light (which is also in that picture) is pointing directly to my bed.

This data for my research is going to have to wait

mms? they actually call you to tell you that you are still on hold?

I nominate this for "most random quote of the day."

I'm sleepy myself. And I have an awful stomach ache. There's been a puke bug going around here, hope I'm not next in line for it 🙁

I can also sleep in full sunlight!

I can, but it's much more restless. I have one of those 98% sun blocking shades in my window.

Ha! Those are really nice!

Maybe six years ago, I managed to fall asleep outdoors on the grass under the noon-time sun. I have no doubt that I could do it again if nudged just a little.

Edit: TOP solar radiation:

_That_ is impressive.😱

Does registration suck?

stomach bugs are the worst.

posting from my bed is awesome....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...I now know how I can manage to catch up to olemissbabydoc....I am going to use my 26 other sick days, stay in my bed, and just camp out on SDN...only break to take a shower...I love competition (you can thank my involvement in athletics for that one)...and I am ready to take that Sonic eater down!!!!

I may only be 5'11 and a half (THANK YOU VERY MUCH CHAD...I am a proud 5'11 AND A HALF!!!) but I can compete with the best of them.

BRING IT OLEMISS!!!!! Ok...my NyQuil is working (and I'm not even supposed to be taking NyQuil)

Ugh... data entry this afternoon.

I just created a new data set for my study (since the RA before me did absolutely nothing with data entry 😡) and for each participant there are 261 different variables.

With 200 participants that's over 50,000 variables that I have to enter and double-check. 🙁

No, we're nice.. haha. But the registrars office are *&^%$es.

Anywho, I ended up with about 300 blank registration forms after the cussing fit. It's pretty much hilarious.

(See, I give out reigstration forms and registration clearances, the students take them to their dept... etc. I really don't know why we can't make copies ourselves.. but noooo).

:laugh::laugh:

That's terrible.🙁

Doesn't it defeat the purpose if _you're_ the one double-checking?
