This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
did you sell your car. i was also thinking about getting a car but i was thinking maybe i don't need one in the first two years and that way i can save the money

wow if i went there i'd totally have a car... i mean you can take public trans but...

Thanks! I will get periodic access (probably once a day).

I made an appointment with the travel clinic for tomorrow and she has everything to get me protected for my trip! 😀

Awesome! No hepatitis for you!!👍

This sucks, I'm going to be finished paying off my car this summer and I won't even need to use it in the fall 🙁

I prefer winter rain. Summer rain = thunder, lightening, 70 mph winds, and other things I generally don't approve of (hail, tornadoes).

I just simultaneously sneezed and bit my tongue. UGH.

I think summer rain >>> winter rain. Although my opinion in general is summer >>> winter (for everything).

I don't think I could live without my car, it's a scary though:scared:.

Yeah, I wonder how I managed to take the subway for 2 hours back in high school instead of a 30 minute drive.

YAY! We just passed our IRB audit! :soexcited:

I think that is why I did not apply to that many schools down south. My boss was trying to tell me to apply to UAB...but what kept weighing on my mind was LIGHTNING AND THUNDER

LOL.

South Alabama is notorious for being located in the "wettest city" in America (mobile, al). I haven't heard anything from them (can we say LATE?), but I'd rather not deal with rain/thunder/lightening ever day anyway.

I have the t-shirt too 😀

I see your chick magnet, and raise you a willing to participate in scientific research:

Totally torn between wearing that to work and not.

I've definitely seen a lot more adult research participants walking through here since the economy tanked. If I were unemployed, I would totally be doing research studies

Haha! Only on the front. I'm torn because a) we do animal research and b) we do recruit people for clinical trials... so uh 😳

...maybe I'm just over-thinking it...

I wish I could enjoy next quarter instead of worrying about graduating with distinction. My project is not where I want it to be, and since there are no set standards, I expect too much out of it.

riceman that sounds like a cool program.. if they had one in NYC i totally would apply

I had an epiphany...

Trying to figure out the inner workings of medical school admissions offices and the intricacies of their respective admissions processes is akin to trying to follow the plotline of LOST.

There's conspiracy, mystery, randomness, etc.

So adcoms = smoke monster?

Hmmm... well that test wasn't too bad... luckily, I think all of the intro-level students (it's intro to astronomy) will probably bring the curve down, allowing me to scrape by despite not studying until before midnight 😀

EDIT: *nonchalant whistling*

Definitely...

So who gets to be Jack? 😉

Haha, I don't even watch Lost, but I hear all these crazy things related to the show.

I think I would have to be Jin...

To be honest, I don't think the process is all that complex. Yes there's a bit of randomness at each school, but the process in general isn't that random. By looking at school list, state of origin, application submission date, UG institution, stats, and ECs, I've found you can predict with a reasonable amount of accuracy (certainly within statistical significance) # acceptances and # in each tier, even though it may not be possible to predict the individual schools. Match is a bit more random.
