Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Today I bring you another episode of....

Myuu can haz allergies, or: how my nose learned to stop dripping and love the drugs.

I made a promise to make my 5,000th post here when I heard back from Columbia. Well, here is that milestone of a post... I got an email from my Mom regarding my application at Columbia.

I was rejected. 🙁 It is incredibly disappointing but it was honestly the outcome I was expecting. I am doing fine - it sucks but that's just how things are sometimes and life goes on. I have some other fine acceptances to choose from and I'm sure that wherever I go I will be happy.

I'm not going to try to justify it or make myself feel better by saying "well I didn't want to go there anyway." The truth of the matter is that it was my dream school and top choice, and I felt it was the perfect fit for me. I'm just going to deal with the decision and move on.

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone here for their support, encouragement, and friendship throughout this entire beast of a process. I wish you all the best of luck in the future and I can't wait to meet some of you next year.
I'm so sorry Chad! Keep your chin up.

I love that movie 😛 I'm trying to hold off on medicating until I can't help it. They're not quite so bad yet, although sneezing multiple times while driving to work is probably a hazard 😱

I worry about that too, because I have a tendency to close my eyes when I sneeze. I really, really don't need to be shutting my eyes on the beltway.:scared:

Sorry to hear that, Chad!🙁 You'll just have to knock 'em dead during match season and show them what they'll be missing!🙂

I thought everyone closes their eyes when they sneeze? Remember when people said that if you tried to keep your eyes open while sneezing, the pressure would pop your eyes right out?

Oh, well I wasn't sure if that was a thing unique to me or not, so I took the safe route. I'm not sure anyone ever told me that.😱

Thankfully I only ended up about five minutes late to work. 👍

Nice work!👍

So I got home and in bed very late last night, which caused a slight case of oversleeping this morning.

Me too. I usually get up at 7:30 even though I don't leave my house until 8:30. This morning, I woke up at 8:15 then went back to sleep AGAIN for some idiotic reason 😱 Luckily, I woke up at 8:40 and I dashed out of the house in 5 minutes so I was only 15 minutes late. Just dumb dumb dumb...

Work hard in med school and go there for residency Chad.

e-hug. Don't worry. You will do great, wherever you end up going. And plus there is always residency... (Mayo, yes this means you:laugh:)<-- an aside for myself...

Yeah definitely. In the career of a physician, it's never over...

Don't forget that you can also do externships at Columbia, too.

And hey, you've got some great choices.

I get up at 6:30 and leave at 7:15.

Not today.

👍 Truth! Don't get discouraged - you have some great opportunities on the table! Everything happens for a reason... I'm sure everything will work out for you :luck:

*hug* It's really their loss, chad 🙁 Luckily, you'll do great no matter where you land 🙂

QFT. Now THAT is scary!

Usually means you had a fun night 🙂

*sigh* I'm so busy today... I sure hope that I find time to hit 2k!

Should I call AECOM to withdraw since I'm doing so with such short notice? My interview was scheduled for next week.

Ehhh, I feel like I may regret withdrawing.

Would you pick AECOM over your current acceptance(s)?

Its a good school. If the money were right then may be, but the odds that I would pick it over P&S or Sinai are small. Anyhow, I don't quite know that yet because I have not been there.

Willing to pay to find out? Also, what do you think your likelihood of straight-up acceptance is at this point?

I'd probably one miss of work to interview, otherwise the process would not be very costly. As for my odds, I think they are low and I'd feel like I robbed someone of an interview if I went there and hated it.

It sounds like I have made my mind up.

I'm given an hour to learn all about ergonomics! Thanks, Navy! I always wanted to sit here in the dark and look at slides!🙂

I think I'll stop now. You may resume your regularly scheduled postings.
