My dream school has changed about 5 or 6 times this cycle 😛.

heh. for me it's been Mayo since high school, but I also really liked northwestern after visiting it this summer.

My dream school was Mayo...*sigh*

Eh, I probably would have frozen there anyway... My sister tells me that I like Dartmouth a lot because it is my Mayo rebound school:laugh:

SoCal >>>>>>>>>>>>NorCal, although NorCal has better outdoors stuff...
I have no clue what part of Cali to go to! It's me and my best friend (a girl). We are looking for a mix of beach & fun things to do at night (dinner, nights on the town, maybe some dancing). I'm really open to anything. We will probably be going in July

Isn't it Mayo again? I thought you were going to MCW, though.

it's always been mayo, but I also had northwestern as second on the list for a few months. Then after interviewing at a few schools everyone told me PBL sucked.

My dream school has always been Cornell 😀 But I keep freaking myself out & finding reasons to change my dream school. I'm a head case!

Either head to Frisco or down to LA... Those would be your two best bets...

If you go to San Francisco, you can probably meet the three NorCaler 2013ers... I actually do not know where the bests clubs etc are cuz I do not go clubbing...

When I submitted in July, if I could of had my pick, it would of been:

Mayo > NU > Hopkins > Harvard > WashU> UWash > UCSF > Stanford > Duke

I got rejected pre-sec by UWash and UCSF, never finished Duke secondary, and only got two interview out of all those schools. I MAY still have a chance at stanford, apparently they are still sending out interviews, but I'm not counting on it.

Wow, Geometry is hard... I am trying to help my little brother with his homework and I am lost...😳

what about san diego? How's that?

San Diego is not bad... I have only been a few times with my family, and we have either only been to the beaches, the art galleries, or Sea World... To tell you the truth, I have no idea what there is to do in San Diego...

thanks funky! you're the best 😎

Starting out, I was 100% sure my dream school was UT Southwestern. My Baylor interview just totally blew me away and it muscled its way onto the top of the heap along with UTSW. I don't know what I'd do if I got off the waitlist at UTSW at this point, as I'd be totally torn between the two schools.

Yeah, those of us with TX residency don't dream outside of Texas; we're too busy dreaming of IS tuition 😀

Hey, do we know when the new USNWR rankings come out? I was interested to see how their "new" ranking system changes things (that I don't actually care about).:laugh::laugh:

May, I think... or maybe late April...

If you want to go to the beach, you want to go to SoCal. LA is probably your best bet, it has a little bit of everything there. Santa Monica or Manhattan or Venice Beaches would probably be a good place to visit/stay, pretty close to everything and nice areas. SD is nice too but everything is a bit more spread out and you can get sick of Gaslamp and that immediate area pretty quickly. LA has a lot more to do.

Things change, my dream school before last cycle was UCLA, and I ended up getting in and not going, go figure...

what is changing about the ranking system?

Then I think you want SoCal.

Lol I noticed that. Guess it's a loss for the rest of us.

did you regret it a few weeks ago? Tomorrow you won't regret it though, perfect weather.

in fafsa for housing, does on-campus strictly refer to dorms/school provided housing?

If I rent an apartment owned by a private entity right across the school, is that on-campus or off campus ?

thanks for all the Cali advice everyone! I don't know how I'm going to pay for this vacation...

On the topic of FAFSA... does applying as a graduate student/professional student significantly lower the EFC? Mine went down to nothing (aren't I lucky) although my parents' AGI was more this year.

fafsa makes me sad, I've had so many rejections that I am only using up 5 slots.

Your parents' information doesn't count for grad student EFC even if you put it in, so I guess in that sense, yeah, being a grad student does significantly lower your EFC usually. But your FAFSA EFC means nothing for the purposes of institutional aid--all a low FAFSA EFC means for federal purposes is that you are allowed to take out a lot of loans. Yay.

The people directly below me are high, trying to use up the last of their pot from spring break, and are mindlessly banging on the drums. I cannot study.

May their death be slow, and painful 😡

Yes, because for the purpose of FAFSA you are automatically looked at as an independent (no matter what you are on your parents taxes).

Yeah I have a friend from Texas who wants to go to UCSF. He got into Baylor, though. I don't know why he would think of leaving 😉.

BTW, if you got off the waitlist at UTSW, you would still be required to go to Baylor.

Yeah, but you have to live in that foreign country of Nottexas.

Haha, weird sounding place 😉

Ugh, that's so annoying.

😍😍***I finished my FAFSA***😍😍

Psst... don't tell UTSW... but between you and me... finances being equal, I think I would. I just LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Baylor in my interview. Like I'm 52-48 right now in favor of Baylor... ya know, if I got to make that choice 😛

But we'll see what I think tomorrow... this thing tends to change on a weekly basis  Offering rum at that party would definitely be a plus in Baylor's favor 😉
