Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Honestly, I have no idea. I'm an avid "icon" collector.... I find anything that appeals to me, and I save it on my computer. I have hundreds, maybe a thousand or so of them. Sure, maybe 🙂.

Hey, you're a donor, right? Maybe you could make your avatar a cycle through your top 20 or something. Keep us on our toes. 👍

The quote is from New Moon. 🙂

I need to leave this thread before I start getting way too excited about those books. Definitely a huge component to my summer... among all the research and secondaries of course, for better or for worse! Glad to find another fan on here! :hardy:

it definitely is a good relaxation tool. Can't wait for the movie. Too bad about Midnight Sun. 🙁

w00t! Got a USF interview 🙂 And I thought those guys weren't going to show me any instate love...I've been complete at USF FOREVER. Yay, I'm not last on their priority list.

EDIT: Thanks for the encouragement, Nikki. I just realized I met you in Miami. I did the tour with you and the med student from chicago 😀

Congrats on USF!!! So we did meet in Miami 😀... It's nice to meet you on SDN, too! 😛 Haha...

I'm still waiting to hear back from USF, I've been complete there for about a month. I can't wait till after Oct. 15 to hear back from UMiami (and others, too)!! Ughh.. I hate waiting 🙄

^ Yeah, I know what you mean about waiting.

A few things about USF: Their e-mail doesn't actually mention anything about an interview...it just says to call them about the application. When you CALL, that's when they'll say you've got an interview. But be prepared if you GET the e-mail -- that's what you're calling about 😀.

The other thing: Prepare for USF to invite you for the week following when you call (they interview on Mondays). So start thinking about your availability the Monday following when you get the e-mail (at least, that's what happened with me). Think about your transportation needs before you call, maybe...I was taken a little off guard myself 😳.

OK, maybe that'll help a little. :luck::luck::luck:, Nikki.

The MAY message. Ominously bolded and capitalized. 😉

That's a good message to have. I bet you get an invite in the coming months. Hang in there! 👍

The day went pretty well. It was pretty short, and most of it was taken up by the tour and lunch with medical students. I've had 2 or 3 med-student-guided tours in the past, and I work on the campus everyday, so I didn't really learn anything new. It was still enjoyable although the weather was a bit dreary.

I feel like the interview went really well. My interviewer was a very nice, laid-back gentleman and it wasn't difficult at all. I didn't really get any hard questions (no ethics or healtcare in the US questions) and I feel like I answered the somewhat tricky questions well. Dr. Whitehurst-Cook told us that we should have our files presented to the admissions committee on Monday, so we should make the deadline for potential acceptances on October 16th. They send acceptances 10/16, 12/15, 2/1, and 3/15, so I'm hoping I get an early acceptance from them. It's a great school, right at home, cheap, and I would love to go there!

I've got to get to bed early tonight. I have to be at UMD by 8:30 tomorrow morning, but I'm driving up from Richmond in the morning. Hooray for 4 am commutes! I'm super excited about the interview though - Maryland is definitely near the very top of my list!

^ Sounds like a good day, Chad 🙂 I definitely enjoyed interviewing at my home institution because, well...it's home. Whether or not you end up there, it's hard to feel bad about interviewing at an institution that will be your alma mater no matter what 🙂

You guys are lucky your home institution has given you guys an interview.... but then again getting an interview at my home institution is like winning the lottery...

Yup, my alma mater is also ignoring me altogether, which makes me a bit sad, cause I know half their M1 class this year and would like to visit 😀 not to mention going to the undergrad campus and visiting some of my friends/professors. I miss home!

On the other hand, my 4-interview trip is coming up, which is a bit terrifying. I need to buy a couple of extra shirts to wear under my suits and stuff, restock some essentials for travel, and schedule things with one of my student hosts. It's all very stressful!

By the way, it's officially been almost a month since I've gotten an interview invite, and I no longer have fingernails 😳

I'm up to 39 days. So sad.

With four interviews within a week, I imagine you have other things to keep you occupied right now, LET. 😉 Have a safe and fun trip.

Sunday night I dreamt that I got interview invites from Chicago, Cornell, and Columbia. Then the next day (Monday) at work, I checked email (I almost never check while at work) and had an invite from Columbia! Shock and awe.

Now if only the rest of them would pull through for me! 😀

Haha thanks it's gonna be a crazy week, but it should definitely be fun. I'll be taking loads of pictures and was thinking of making a sort of picture album of the campuses I get to visit and post it on here somehow so people can see the schools...what do you guys think? And maybe people who are big on taking pictures of the campuses and who interview at other places can send me theirs and it can just get bigger and bigger. Anyways, we'll see (and we'll see if the mods are ok with it too).

I'm anxiously praying and hoping for a whole bunch of them, namely UCSF, Columbia, Cornell, and Northwestern. But eh, I'm being greedy. I've been really lucky so far. It's just been a long month....and I'm waiting on 19 more!!

Oh and Gradu8, that's an awesome avatar. And congrats on P&S, Druzie!

after the excitement of early interview invites, it's time to settle in for the long haul of the whatever the next 7 months (or more) will bring.

happy almost october, though. 😀

Thanks, LET.

Depending on how many pictures you take, that might be a good project to make the waiting less unbearable.

Happy October indeed. Does anyone have Halloween plans? I used to love it as a kid but haven't done anything in ages. It may be time to revive the excitement.

Wassup Fam Bam!!! Hope you all are blessed and prospering! Couple more weeks and some of you studs will be official 2013! Just keep praying and believing!

I really like your avatar. It is awesome!😀

Thanks guys! I have an insane amount of icons on my computer (i'm an icon collector I suppose), so I made several of these animated ones in different themes. This is the "waiting" theme.

Happy October!!!!!

It is 14 days, 12 hours, 18 minutes
Until Midnight October 15 CST... my schools that will tell on the 15 are in the CST, but I am in the PST...

Yay! I'm so excited. It's finally getting close....

So are you expecting any news at 12:01 on Oct 15, or is all yours coming after 12:01 Oct 16 (like me).

I heard Southwestern tells people at midnight on the 15th...

Oh snap. I guess I can actually call myself an official class of 2013 member.

In other news, I had a dream last night that I received an interview invite from Miami. Didn't even apply there. I started to sing "Push It" when I opened the email

Yeah, that's how mine are. Midnight or after. Some schools are known for 12:01 AM on the 15th tho (which is a day before us).

However, the "official" rules say AFTER the 15th, so I'm stuck with 12:01 AM October 16th.

While I don't mind finding out so early, it's already killed my motivation. I guess it doesn't help that I'm not too keen of my major. I just wish I could do my research, continue my volunteering at the hospital, hang with my little sib, shadow at the peds cardiology clinic, and continue to train for my marathon. Then life would be perfect!

36 more for me... plus the 5 I still have to do...

and yes I am a greedy monkey

Never mind, now it is 35 more...hehe

Woohoo Mt. Sinai!!!!!!!!!😱

It is the best Eid* present ever.😀

*Eid= a Muslim holiday:laugh:
