As for the sleep science, I am a steadfast believer in sleep cycle intervals. I've figured my sleep cycle is approximately 45 minutes, so as long as my total sleep hours is divisible by 45 minutes I will feel well rested the next day.

I've got it down only as far as odd-numbered hours, which is to say if I get an odd numbered whole-number total period of sleep (e.g. 3 hours), I feel a lot more rested than if I'd gotten an even-numbered total (e.g. 8 hours).
