Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Soooooooo disappointed!!!!!!

Today is the commencement of the Penn Relay's and as usual sexy chicas were everywhere...buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut the Jamaican vendors with the AMMMMMMMMMMMZING Jamaican food were no where to be found! 😡😡😡 And I was craving some jerk chicken, greens, mac and cheese, yams....😡😡😡 I planned for this well in advance too, knowing how bad the food is for you...it was my cheat meal😡😡!!!!

ahhh well...maybe my Jamaicans will show up tomorrow...sigh!!!!

Looks like I'm having canned chicken 🙁, baby carrots, whole grain bread, an orange, and water for lunch

gotcha... are you the outdoorsy type? You could to Thailand... or Egypt... or New Zealand haha I'm all over the place

I'm definitely an outdoorsy type. One of my goals in life is to step foot on all seven continents. New Zealand would be amazing, though I'm worried that it would be too expensive. Egypt is near the top of my list, so I'm definitely looking into it. Thailand would also be amazing, but I think I would want a travel partner for that, and it looks like it is just going to be me this summer.

Do you really have no idea who /b/oxxy is?

So really, what the hell is 4chan? All I know is that it's weird.

That about sums it up, yeah. It is the origin of (many, many) memes.

I learn so much weird pop culture crap from this thread.

that's insane we don't start til' mid August.
I love Danny DeVito.😍
:eyebrow:

Just finished my last UG class ever.
Congrats

I like the idea of Peru, have you ever been Drizz?

Lol. the more interesting question is where hasn't Drizz been?

In other words, I had the Americanized education, though I did pick up a little more during my time in Honduras, but my ability is surely inadequate.

yeah...immersion is the best way to become fluent in a language

I speak truth! I know I'm a handful 😉 ... but I'm worth it

someone needs to ask your man :meanie: without you looking over his shoulder!

Let me find BD so I can tell him to ask your real man when y'all meet up:laugh:

As posted in the Case secondary thread..

Sweet mother of Mary. I constructed a finaid spreadsheet for my other choice (COA is 53k/yr). Basically, at graduation, I'd owe about $200k overall. It looks like something in the neighborhood of $3000/month to pay everything off in 10 years post-residency assuming I don't chip away during residency ($5-10k/year depending on PGY salary after taxes). If I chip away at the interest accumulating during residency, it's more like $2500/month for 10 years post-residency.

And that's with the relatively small institutional loan (same as Perkins) the other school gave me where I can defer interest for 5 years after graduation.

😱😱😱

so what are you going to do?

Serious question:

I am getting ready to send a Letter of Intent to my dream school 😍😍 (you guys all know which one)

But I also wanted to send a letter of interest to another school without the definitive "I would come to your school without hesitation" language.

Is that ok

I'll also be sending a separate update letter

it's not a binding contract so I don't see why not

so what are you going to do?

All I can do is wait considering that I'm still waiting to get my financial aid package from Case. But if I get the full loan packet, I may have to turn them down to go to Wisconsin (the school I did #'s for). I haven't crunched the numbers for Case yet but there is a $16,000/year difference in COA so that won't look too pretty.

BTW guys, sorry for the complaining about $ stuff.. I know it gets a little depressing.

I don't even consider letter of intent to be legally binding at all. Schools probably don't put much stock into the "intent" part, anyway even though it most likely helps to show interest.

Edit: Wait a sec! Was your question about what I am going to do a serious one then? lol

I don't think that's a problem.

Fin aid is depressing🙁.

I hope they give you some decent aid.:luck:

I'll trade your $200k for my 300 😀

I'm in agreement with those who have already replied. It is not a binding contract, furthermore it's not like you're sending a LOI to both. I would go ahead, it's not as though you're deceiving them.

RR, looking at the debt we are all going to accumulate over the next number of years is definitely a bummer. For me there is a pretty high threshold for increased COA in choosing between my top choices; but it sounds like you're CASE😛 might be different. I have friends who went to CASE for undergrad and raved about it. I'm not sure which Wisconsin school you're talking about; but if it MCOW I have a friend whose a second year there and absolutely loves it. I did my undergrad at UW and have a number of friends in various years of med school. If you get me started, I will not stop talking about how much I loved Madison and my friends would provide similar feedback. In summation, I'm jealous of your situation.

Yup, Madison. I really like UW a lot too, which is why I don't think I would have any regrets turning Case down if the difference is just too much. But the fact of the matter is that I like them both too much to turn one down 😛

He's talking about UW... (Wisconsin refers to UW, generally)

I thought Case seemed like a fun environment, but ultimately I had serious issues with Cleveland as a locale. I can't imagine exams being every 10 weeks though 😱 😱 One of our blocks was 6 weeks long and it was 😱 as it was.

Now that it's nice out, I have nothing but good things to say about Madison 😀

I think UW should have a second look in May (but I think they think it would interfere with the exam schedule) Madison in May is pretty spectacular.

Oh, I'm well aware!:meanie: Just kidding, I was/am/will always be a Badger. Conveniently I bleed Wisconsin red.

B-b-but if you give up Case, our hypothetical LAN party just won't be the same.

Bah! More spam in Russian today...

Why do I never get these through gmail and only through the army???

Edit: And to whoever was asking (Rice, was it you?), the last block of the first year ends 5/21.
