alrighty...P chem time..ttyl
I called VCU for a fin aid estimate and they said that it would be all loans except for the 4k scholly... Time to withdraw(soon, not yet), which would mean that I am holding an acceptance to only one school😱

I fixed it for you Chubby 🙂
Oh and Battlestar Galactica, any good?
I just watched Firefly/ Serenity and loved it. And I keep hearing BSG is worth watching, what's the scoop here gang? Is it really, or are we just starved for decent Sci-Fi?
Err, wow it's been a long time. Yeah I have seen Season 3 too, for some reason I thought that was the final one. No, I've seen Seasons 1-3, but haven't seen any of Season 4... and it looks like only the first half of season 4 is out on DVD. Lame.
I told you to buy the soundtrack!![]()
😱
Yes it's good! I watched the entire series in three weeks (80 ~45 min episodes + 3hr prequel miniseries).
I should watch Firefly/Serenity. Maybe that should be next. Shouldn't take long.
*cough*torrent it*cough*
Just don't let the RIAA catch you! Friend of mine had to pay them $3000 last summer.
There's also the Surf the Channel website.
Yeah... I think I need it.
RIAA is no longer serving warrants against individuals. They are now working on other avenues to stop piracy. MPAA not so sure about...I would imagine that it's pretty difficult to get caught by the RIAA, unless you're downloading things constantly...or the new Wolverine movie.

The RIAA doesn't care about the Wolverine movie. The MPAA, on the otherhand, will burn you alive (in the rare event that they find you (through bogus torrents and the like)).
Dude..my chem friends are ready to drop dead from p-chem right now! You're almost done tho right?

If it makes you feel any better, I still ended up with 61k in loans.
HAAAAAAAAAHAHAHA. I just now got rejected from GW.![]()
So I got my financial aid packet from Case today.. it's about time. However, they expect my parents to contribute $12,000/year and for me to take out loans for the rest of it. I already specified on my needaccess application that my parents aren't going to be giving me much, if at all.
You know, with the economy tanking (especially in Detroit), little brother still in undergrad and parents watching out for their nest egg which has already taken a hit, I can't expect much from my parents. Maybe I can work out a loan, though.
I think it's pretty clear what I'm going to do but I'm going to wait till tonight to fully think through it all.
Did you get that email way back about them holding a small number of interview invites even though interview season is over and there was a SLIGHT possibility that they would contact you regarding an interview but not to keep your hopes up?
Yay for run-on sentences!

So I'm confused, if your COA was $60,000 and they expect your family to contribute $12,000 does that mean hey're only going to let you take out loans for $48,000? I thought EFC was only used to determine need-based financial aid and wouldn't affect your projected cost of attendance. Am I wrong?
I have 2 sibs in undergrad and if they tell me they're deducting EFC from my loans I am f***ed...
CoA for Case is a mighty 69k.

I feel your pain: 67k for NYMC for on-campus (first two years), and 71 for off-campus...that, and there's a lot more to be said for Case than NYMC. 🙁
NYMC actually didn't seem that bad when I went to Second Look. With no alternatives, I think I would ultimately be happy there, but I'm opting to save the extra 20-30K per year 🙂
Boo for loans👎. I'm sure I'll be joining you guys in the high loan club soon enough🙁.
FML and PGW. You have to schedule gas turn off a week before the date. I just did it hoping for turn off on Friday. We'll see what happens. Hopefully they come and do it. Waiting for my confirmation.
Not to continue on with the fin aid talk... but does anyone know if schools recalculate EFC themselves or do they just use the FAFSA one?

We just wore hoodies and used space heaters.I think they calculate their own based on family assets.
(*@#$&@(*#$ PGW. I've had to pay them an arm and leg over the winter. One bill was a bit over $600. Stupid PGW and my landlord is lame for not putting in any insulation in a house that's over 100 years old.

 That's gonna be rough, I thought they gave you a little bit more than that. Did you get any Case loans?
Ok, thanks. I was curious since I haven't gotten any kind of paper work regarding my assets aside from the FAFSA.
It depends on the institution. I know that Case takes it into account, because they came up with a specific figure for what my parents were expected to contribute.
