Yay for interviews!

Boo for having to wait...errm...*cough* *cough* Vandy and Upstate...*cough**cough*
 
so as i continue to go crazy waiting for an interview, my friend (who is in the same situation) and i decided that applying to med school can be analagous to being pregnant. secondaries=morning sickness, interviews=ultrasounds, the dreaded wait while getting to know your school/baby, getting really impatient/anxious toward the end, and FINALLY an acceptance=the birth.

i know i sound insane, but it's something entertaining to keep my head on straight about this cycle. 😛

Look here chieftress, everything is going to be ok. Just keep praying and waiting patiently as possible. I understand your pain, trust me. But I kept praying everyday and being as positive as possible and my interview came. I only have one interview so far but I am perfectly ok with that. I sm just grateful to have this one. It's a great one at that. Just keep believing and telling yourself that it is going to happen. You honestly have to believe in your heart 100% that you will get one and that you deserve one. I would wake up every morning and tell myself today is my day and I would thank the Lord for it. It will come. Just keep the faith and remain confident! God bless!

I would have to say that I did not experience any sort of labor pains when I received my acceptance.

sigh. oh well. but my interviewer was not dean frantz... it was dr. kornfeld. but the letter was not from him. lol

Yeah, my interviewer wasn't Dean Frantz either. I think that the interviewers are instructed to forward any thank yous they receive to the admissions office. I know that you dance - did your interviewer have any involvement in the arts? Because my interviewer plays piano and trombone - and he likes to play jazz - so we talked about that for a little while. I'm wondering how they choose who interviews which applicant or if it's just random.

Really sick, actually 🙁. Stupid change of seasons...but I'm going to go check out the new San Francisco science museum today 😀 (huge nerd, I know). I expect it won't be nearly as cool as the Museum of Science in Boston, but we'll see!

chad, my interviewer was a psychiatrist lol.. altho i seem to recall we bonded over something....
LET.. i totally hear you abt the change of seasons... last week there were days were it went down to 36 F(feels like 31) and today is 67. WTF!!??
 
Thanks for the good wishes, guys! I'll be in bed and drink lots of fluids and eat lots of chicken soup. I decided not to go to the museum today so as to not make things worse. My birthday is on wednesday so I want to be healthy for it...

What's everyone else up to this weekend?

That's probably a good idea. You should stay at home today...take care of yourself so that you feel better soon!

Since I'm failing my classes, this weekend is time for me to study. I need to maintain a 3.5 my senior year. 🙁

i got waitlisted at UVM too. good luck with getting off of it.

and....also, i'm at my parents' for the weekend b/c i have an interview at Pitt on monday and it's relatively close. and i'm sad not to be able to check my mail for like 4 days. i hope good news is waiting when i get back

The weather does suck right now. I'm hoping it doesn't rain. Me and the wife are going to Universal Studios for the last night of their Halloween Horror Nights. This is part one of our 1 year wedding anniversary. It better not rain!!!!!

Ehh... I am sick, so 60 or 79, it is the same for me. I am kind of glad it is not raining, but we do kind of need the rain here. Stuff is starting to dry out...

I understand completely. I went to school in Boston and now I'm living in the Bay area, and yesterday was the first time I got to walk around on Halloween without a huge coat and boots to hide my costume. When I said this to the people I was with they looked at me and were like "but it's only October!"

Oh, California.

Of the premed friends I told, they always respond by becoming distant rather than being happy for me like they would do for any other acceptance. This contributes to my lack of bragging. More people knew I was going to Case to interview in August then will likely ever know I will go to JHU next September. Except SDN, because I love each and everyone of you. Especially YOU.

Columbia gives Election Day off? Lucky.... I am actually flying to Maryland on the 4th so I have to vote absentee... About the weekend, I should be studying for my midterm, and doing my research paper, but I do not care anymore... which is bad...🙄

bring warm clothes. it's been really wish-washy weather in baltimore lately. really really cold one day. then 60 degrees. (and my parents who live 3 hours west had 3 inches of snow this week)...crazy!

Thanks! By the way, would I need to bring shoes? I know that sounds weird, but to all of my other interviews, I have gone in flip-flops. I wanted to know whether I would need to bring my shoes so that my toes do not get cold and gangrenous?
 
weather here is going nuts. it was real cold last week and then yesterday was nice and today it was 70 for our W against duke today. next week it's supposed to stay in the 60s...holler for north carolina weather
 
in general, i would say flip-flops aren't the greatest idea for any interview. but more power to you. i'd certainly be more comfy in flops

but, yes...you'll want shoes. it's a good bit of walking. part in a hospital. part outside. part on icky city streets (sometimes icky). shoes will be a good idea. you will probably also have to walk a good bit to get to your interviews

I hate wearing shoes. The first thing I do after my interviews is that I change into my flip-flops... I think I have been in CA too long...🙄

oh wow.. missed an entire discussion on flip flops! i totally miss them and wish i could still wear them but my toes may just freeze and fall off
