slowly but surely catching up to chubbs (aka loser who made that quiz...calling me a douchebag 😡) and spurs

I had cereal today but I'm still hungry.

Just treated myself to a protein shake (a scoop of Nitrocore24 blended with milk and ice) for breakfast, same thing I had before going to sleep last night. I am still mondo sore from my 3 hour lifting session yesterday. Don't ask me to raise my arms or climb the stairs too much today 😛

Ooi...did it taste good? 😱

3 hour lifting? overtraining ftfl...

I don't think my lifts generally exceeded an hour unless I was lifting with a group of people.

Yeah, it's actually pretty tasty, like a milkshake. I'm going to go munch down on some hummus and baby carrots in a little bit.. some seriously good stuff there. I have designated this Sunday to be a total lazy day (ran 8 miles a day from M-F, and lifted for 3 hours yesterday so I plan to take full advantage of being lazy). 😀

Nice, I just restocked with lots of healthy snacks (hummus, pita, bruschetta, crackers) and optimum nutrition gold standard!

Nah, I don't spend 3 hours lifting 😱, more like 3 hours working out. It's probably a lot smarter for me to split up the lifts, though. That's why you'll never see me get huge, but that's not my goal anyway 😛. I also spend a little time doing calisthenics/plyometrics and a short run at the beginning and the end. Yeah, I just lump it all together into a "lifting session" because those are things I usually do in the same session.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh gawd....3 hrs of lifting??????????????? are you sure????

What consists as a short run for you?

I generally tended to do pretty quick (10 lifts of 2 sets each) full body workouts 5-6 days a week, but now since I'm rehabbing I'm just lifting a much lighter (and faster) workout of about 3 sets of 8 reps with 6 lifts at about 50% of my normal lifts now 🙁 Oh well, baby steps.

Yesterday my routine lasted about half an hour and was:

Bench 3 x 8 @ 175
Standing Curl 3 x 8 @ 80
Preacher Curl 3 x 8 @ 80
Dumbbell Incline Press 3 x 8 @ 60
Dumbbell Military Press 3 x 8 @ 50
Dumbbell Shrug 3 x 8 @ 90

I felt pretty tired after that, especially with the dumbbell sets, it was hard to lift the weights that high with my right arm. It's weird though, because my ortho said that the bone was 100% healed and the cortex looked totally normal, so I suspect that the muscle atrophy I had just made it hard to do some of these lifts.

yeah you guys really went crazy last night.
i am still sick 🙁 and studying for finals will be a disaster.. i can already feel it and I know that I have a decent amount of work to do for each exam..

anyways, how is everyone?

Aww, I hope you feel better son too!

Feel better ar2388!

And Myuu, weren't you sick too? Anyway, if so I hope you are feeling better as well.

I wasn't sick, but the video games are taking care of that!👍

Are you bluffing?

Go fish?

What are you playing? I was playing tales of Symphonia with my little brother, and now he won't stop repeating MITHOS, SAVE ME, MITHOS...

Echolalia anyone?

I can barely do a third, or in some cases a fourth of what you do😛

Hopefully by the end of the summer I can get closer to where I was last year.

My normal workouts last summer were something like:

Bench Press:

1 x 8 @ 135
1 x 8 @ 225
1 x 8 @ 315
1 x 5 @ 355

Incline Dumbbell press:

1 x 8 @ 100
1 x 8 @ 120

Military Press:

1 x 8 @ 90
1 x 8 @ 110

Angled Plate Loaded Leg press:

1 x 8 @ 540
1 x 8 @ 630

Barbell Deadlift:

1 x 8 @ 315
1 x 8 @ 405

Olympic Barbell Standing Curls:

1 x 8 @ 135
1 x 8 @ 155

Preacher Curl:

1 x 8 @ 100
1 x 8 @ 120

Machine Dips

1 x 8 @ 360
1 x 8 @ 450

Weighted Dip

2 x 10 @ 45

Weighted Pullup

2 x 10 @ 45

Abs

That was pretty much a 1 hour intense workout, and I'd do it 4x a week with intervals in between. Fun times...

Ohhhhhhhhhhh gawd....3 hrs of lifting??????????????? are you sure????

Haha so it goes something like this:

15 minutes, 2 mile run
Chest/shoulders: bench, incline bench, decline bench, front dumbell press
Back: Seated rows, iso-lat pulldowns, chinups, back extensions, and maybe some deadlifts if I'm feeling ambitious (but if I work it too hard, my back doesn't recover in time for me to run without feeling it)
Legs: lots and lots of lunges (with weights), a few plyometric exercises
Biceps/triceps: barbell triceps extension, skullcrusher, standing curls, pushdowns
Also work out forearms a little bit at the end
(Lifting itself takes maybe a hour and half, hour and 45 minutes)
Then I go to the other room, do more chinups, stomach crunches, pushups, etc.. this part I do just because I want to see how long I can go for.
15 minutes, 2 mile run

When I get to med school, I'm going to have to streamline the whole thing because I'm not going to have the time to do this.. and I can definitely find a routine that is much, much, better.. but it's working well enough for me on my runs, especially as far as my back goes, and to a lesser extent, the arms. I used to do more for my legs but it was messing me up on my runs so I cut out most of it.

Yeesh. If that's what you're like when you're rehabbing... but then I see below, and that's pretty killer. Right now I can barely bench 2 x 10 @ 175 and I am just glad I can bench more than my body weight. I'm mainly going for reps rather than weights, though.

Mine is bigger than yours!!

I must add, and I am sure it's quite obvious but the amount of running I do (40 hrs a week on average) is NOT conducive to gaining any amount of weight or even much muscle.

In fact, my workouts started out primarily as leg and back workouts. The former because I have to work on legs to make sure I don't #@*$ my knees from muscular imbalance from running. The latter being because on a long distance run, back support is important for keeping posture which in turn allows you to maintain your form.. being as biomechanically efficient as possible is pretty important. Not that I'm as efficient as I could be.. can always be better.

The rest I added on there for the heck of it.. more goals to work towards. Although arms do help some for when I need to sprint or pick up the pace. Maybe that's why I still don't look emaciated like some of the pro runners out there, and I prefer it that way 😛

You run 40 hours a week?? wtf

I used to play ball alot...maybe like 15 to 20 hours a week..but 40 hours a week?

Damnit, I meant to type miles. I'm writing emails responding to some people who are interested in my job position so I was in a job/career mode, lol.

Multitasking fail

ahhh..40 miles..that makes more sense, haha.

I was thinking "what is this kid training for one of those 100 mile marathons" even that wouldnt require nearly 40 horus aweek, haha.

Heh, I hope you didn't tell someone you were interested in a 40-mile per week job over the summer 😉.

I wonder how many calories a day you would have to consume to maintain your weight and still be healthy while running 40 hours a week?

lets see thats roughly 6 hours a day...say you run 7 mph...and burn 120 calories a mile..840calories/hour times 6 hours=5040...then add your resting metabolic rate or whatever....7000 calories a day??? maybeish.

Wouldn't be impossible to figure out I think. How fast is he running (in mph)?

Actually, no they didn't, lol. What happened, did you get wrecked playing flag football or arm wrestling or something? They did mention that law has won the last couple years
I ****ed my finger up playing flag football...I hate that **** now.

So basically you'd have to eat like Michael Phelps...
