Class of 2013!!!

My mom had a German Shepard before I came along but he didn't like me at all so they had to get rid of him. One of the best dogs ever.... he was sooo smart! We've had inside dogs - Dachshunds- ever since. I love the little ones 🙂
 
Another '13er checking in here... I think I posted on one of the early pages of this thread but haven't since!

I'm in lab right now and thankfully we have some downtime so I'm working on Temple's secondary 🙄 and trying to distract myself from oh so wonderful relationship issues.

On the dog note... my family has a blind and diabetic miniature schnauzer. Poor thing.

I'm jealous of you peeps with dogs. My black lab is living with my ex and I miss him. I'm curious, I have cats, and I'm a little worried about housing in med school w/ pets depending on where I get in. Of course it's fine if you don't live in student housing, but in some places subsidized housing is pretty key. ??

And awesome, you got the mortal combat reference! Sometimes the people in this forum scare me a bit, I feel like they haven't done much in life besides study science, makes me wonder if they ever did, you know, NORMAL things...like chop someone's head off with Katana's fan.

I know what you guys mean about pets...when I got Hippo, I was so sad that I couldn't take him home with me because of logistical stuff, and it looks like at least for the next 4 years pets are out.
Oh, and breeak, if we get into the same school, I want to meet your cat.

I love german shepherds and dobermans. I'm all about the big dogs. I grew up with kuvaszs, anyone familiar with those? And we had a 1/2 wolf 1/2 lab, which was awesome (we lived in very VERY rural british columbia, she had a ton of room).

I won't be living in student housing unless it's an absolute necessity. Having been out of school for 10 years, the prospect of a dorm makes me a little nauseated. Fingers crossed it's not an issue.

BP - your poor doggy!! Send him a hug for me.

LET - you can totally meet my cats. I have 3, 2 are mine, 1 is my ex's. I'm still hoping against hope he'll take him back because 3 is a bit much. I'm convinced my ex did it to try to sabotage my dating life since 3 cats makes it sound like I'm a cat lady. :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Hahaha, we actually had a mortal combat league in my dorm when I was in undergrad, it was so much fun. I don't really play games much anymore, but I was a big fan of halo and soul caliber too.

I have grown up with boxers and we have one right now. He's a bit small but he's extremely muscular and he can run FAST (and jump high). We're thinking of building him an agility course in the back yard. They are the sweetest dogs and I will probably try to have one when I'm older (although I would prefer to have a smaller dog when I move out of the house - maybe a boston terrier?)

Just curious chubs, how many schools did you aPply to? It seems like I've seen you post on every secondary thread! Your essay writing skills are admirable!

too many...I sent in 35 primaries, but I dont think imma complete 2 secondaries...so 33 most likely

and Ive done 26 and have gotten 29

Still waiting on UNC, Indy ( may or may not get this one), Iowa, UCLA, and U minn.

and yay...i just ound out I am complete at Wake forest!

Horray! I am wrapping up a long week of testing in the lab today and working in my BU secondary. I'm also excited because I am receiving a secondary from WF... the only school that I'm applying to that pre-screens. So its my first bit of positive confirmation 🙂

Nice chubs! They sent me a pre-secondary "Sit tight, you're not going to hear anything from us for a while" e-mail, which I think is code word for "we'll reject you when we get around to it" When is your interview?
 
Hey '13ers! How's everyone's weekend been?

I had a great day yesterday: I went up to San Francisco, dropped off my UCSF secondary at the office and walked around the city all day with a couple of my friends. We went to the conservatory of flowers, and the modern art museum, and the beach...all within walking distance of the campus! Kind of crazy.

Oh, and today I submitted my NYU secondary, which has been sitting in my inbox since time immemorial. Of course I'm still sitting on Tulane and I haven't started the beastly UCSD autobiography, but still! One less secondary to go!

How's everyone else? I see interviews are already happening...very nice...we're so smart guys....😀
 
I am having a good day. Just chillin at the the house. I got my first secondary yesterday from Pitt. I know they don't screen but I am still happy. I will get started on it Monday. Hey LET, are you here in Cali?

Right now I am still in Davis. But I am moving home to Compton in 3 weeks! Can't wait to get home. I have been in Nor Cal for 7 years now! :scared::scared:
 
Haha nope, not from Stanford. Grew up in Italy and Colombia, high school near New York City, college in Boston, then moved to Palo Alto to get CA residency so I can apply to the schools here IS 🙂. I work at Stanford, so I live right by.

How about you, BD2B? Berken?

That would be weird, especially if it was the part that Lil Kim talks about giving deep throat! 😱😱😱 I am good, a lil sad cuz my dog that I got, we had to return him to the owners. We think he might have parvo and we can't afford the vet right now 🙁🙁🙁. I kinda miss him!

Im not from Davis, I went to Sac State for undergrad and Davis for my postbacc. What were you in Davis for?
