Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Pull a LET. Send an email to Sinai telling them your interviewing there on ______ day. Maybe they'll do something nice? I just did that to NYMC.

Hahaha it's my signature move now? I was thinking of doing the same thing with Stanford and UCSF, being like "Hi, I live here, so I'll be in the area...uhmmm...all year. Hey Stanford, I'll be on campus tomorrow, and the next day, and one after that. UCSF: I might go up to the city in a week or so to the farmer's market. How about an interview?"

And yay Chad and Berken! Go NY schools! I got my 5th (yeah, I couldn't believe it) interview at DUKE *swoon* yesterday (DEFINITELY couldn't believe that, especially since it was in the early morning and I was pretty sure I was dreaming the email).

SO YEAH, GO 2013!!!

Aw, thanks for the love, guys! I'm really honored to have the opportunity to interview at all of these amazing schools. It's kind of surreal to think that I might just be a doctor in 2013...AAAAHHHH SOOOO EXCIIITIIIING.

By the way, I have my very first interview this coming Monday and I'm absolutely terrified. I'm flying out at 4 am tonight (yeah, that was the cheapest flight available...) but I'm hoping to spend the whole weekend shopping for cowboy boots, sipping sweet tea, and sitting in country bars. Nashville, here I come! Hopefully the interview will go well....wish me luck!!!

you're leaving now?! Wow...good luck! I hope you do wonderfully!

Wassup everybody! I see we have some great action going on in here! Hopefully I will be able to take part in this action sometime soon. Since everybody is giving good news, I was geeked today cuz I got a secondary from UCLA Prime! That's cool for me, once again I thought I was going to get screened out but God, once again, did His thang!!! God bless you all! 2013 is the BOMB!!!!

Wow! Congrats BD2B! You have a 10% chance of an acceptance after getting the Prime secondary, right?

Thank you Berk! Yeah, that's what they say. Not a very big chance at all, but it is a chance. By the way, congrats on becoming a mod! So when did this happen?

Not very big?! Those are great odds!!!

Thanks, I've been a mod for all of 1 day!

10% is great odds? Hey I will take it and get even more excited! Must be nice to be a mod. Well you are my favorite mod!!! 😍

It is nice to be a mod. But, I'm not supposed to have favorites.

(but you're one of my favorites shhh! don't tell anybody)

I understand! You have to be impartial.

It's our little secret!!!😉

Hahaha you guys are so cute. And Berk, now that you've got the power, you should have an evil-looking bird. Tweety's looking a little permissive 😀.

So I did all my pre-interview stuff today and- wow, it's both complicated and expensive to be a pre-interview female. I got a haircut, then bought zillions of little things, from pantyhose to the little plastic baggies to bring on the plane (are they even still enforcing that idiotic rule? Anyways...), plus all this travel-size shower stuff, band-aids for blisters, frizz-ease for hair debacles....anyways, wow. And now I gotta pack. Not fun.

Anyways, hope you all have a more entertaining friday night than I will 😀 OMG INTERVIEW ON MONDAY!!!!!

Ha ha, I already tried that. Would it be tacky to send another one since I'll be in town another date for NYMC?

I am exhausted. I just got back from rehearsal and we learned 5 numbers tonight. We're supposed to have the entire show choreographed by Sunday night. That's just 20 hours of rehearsal for a 30 hour show! It's off to bed for me... I've got to be back at the park at 9:30 am.

LET - Knock 'em dead at Vandy! I know you'll do great!

Haha I gave the tweety a mod case? The new tweety shouldn't be evil!

I know! It's hard packing. I'm already packed for my tues interview! I'm that nervous :scared:

I wondered why I was up at 4 am local time, I guess it's to wish LET best of luck on the travels!!

I also turned on the Weather Channel (bad idea) to track Ike. Looks like a beeline right for us... by THURSDAY. Thursday is NOT a good day. Can we reschedule the hurricane please?:laugh:

I guess I'll call UMC about Tues when we know a bit more and see if they are rescheduling interviews. Sigh. I really don't want to reschedule...but I figure it's better to call instead of just showing up in town with all the evacuees. If they cancel someone else can have my hotel room.

Congrats on mod status! 🙂🙂🙂
Yes, the packing sucks... and I'm still deciding which suit to wear! I didn't get to wear my khaki one at all last year bc my interviews were late and I felt it was an early fall suit... so I think I'll start with that one and work my way back through greys and into black as the season progresses.

hey everyone, so i realized i never introduced myself before. i'm also applying now and have my first interview in about a week. this process has gotten very expensive and planning these interview trips is a job in and of itself! good luck to all 🙂

Hey, hey, hey! Wassup pawty people!

You had your first interview!? Which one Wake or UNC?! How'd it go?

That sounds like a pretty awesome interview! One that I would definitely enjoy.

Well that is nothing... my interviewer and I were talking about Pamela Anderson... That was interesting...

Thanks, that means a lot to me 🙂. The process is somewhat random and coupled with my type-A personality this will be a rollercoaster year, haha. Best of luck to you too!

alcohol+football>>>>>pam anderson and fake boobs...boo

Well, I don't drink, and football is for *****s...

NOTE: I am not calling anyone a *****. I am just expressing my viewpoint...

(Just to cover my bases, cuz I do not wanna get banned...)

Hey everyone!

So I'm in Nashville right now, currently lying on a very comfy hotel bed, trying to ignore the voice in my head that keeps telling me that I should be doing some interview prep. Just got back from dinner with a friend who lives around here, and oh man, if I lived here for four years I'd probably end up weighing 300 pounds.
Nashville is a really cute city, "Music City USA". It feels really alive and young, and more like a small town than a real city, which I like. My hotel is near Vandy so I walked over there today to get a feel of the place and to figure out where the medical center is. It is BEAUTIFUL. I mean, the campus itself is lovely, but the medical campus in particular is just state of the art and huge and airy and lovely, and attached to the undergrad campus so it doesn't feel like too much of a random separate thing. I peeked into the library (big fat nerd that I am, I love libraries) and it's gorgeous- again, huge, full of light, much bigger than most medical libraries I've seen. Basically, it feels like an integrated and homogeneous campus.
So far I'm in love. Tomorrow I'm going to take a closer look at the city, buy some cowboy boots (duh), and try to formulate good answers to the basic questions I'll probably be asked.

Sigh, I hate that I like schools that are so hard to get into.....

Congrats and good luck on the Vandy interview! Which hotel are you staying at, btw? I'm planning for my trip there next month and am trying to find a cheap place that is close to campus (preferably walking distance), since the cheapest tickets I've seen from JFK to Nashville are $500 🙁.

wow thats awesome!!

i havent really been active in this thread but im regretting that now.
i am going shopping for a bag tomorrow for my interview on thurs! eek. lol

LET, how did you carry your suit on the plane? I am tempted to get one of those skyroll garment bags but i dont know if i wanna pay $100 for it..

I'm staying at the Hampton Inn Elliston Place. I was going to stay with a student host but I figured at least for my first interview I wanted to be relatively comfortable (i.e. not having to shower in some stranger's bathroom). The room is supposed to be pretty expensive but I have a friend whose grandma got me a really good deal so in the end I'm not even spending a whole lot of money. And anyways, it's a drop in the bucket isn't it? I honestly wasn't able to find a place close to campus that was super-cheap, so maybe you can do the overnight hosting thing?

I actually used a garment bag that I'd gotten a formal dress in so I didn't buy a new one, and just put it in my regular carry-on suitcase. I tried to put it in there as artfully as I could but I'm sure it's a bit wrinkled...luckily it's not bad though, and it's the kind of fabric that doesn't show wrinkles that clearly. I'm definitely the wrong person to ask, though!

Yeah man...I'm just hoping to get in somewhere this cycle.

I kind of want to make a sig like yours.
