Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thanks. I guess it was expected considering my clinical experience is slightly on the abysmal level... Oh well... By the way LET how is the Vandy interview. Mine is on Thursday.:luck: to everyone!
Hey man...Rochester was too cold for you anyways!!!

I know you dont wanna hear this, but when were you complete at mayo? I got the email on 8/19 and am still in limb

Don't worry about it. I am over it... kind of... err... not really...
I was also complete on 8/19. So it took exactly 4 weeks to give me the boot🙁

Oh jealous! It's about 55 here and pouring rain... like it has been for the past 4 days!

Here's to a :luck: y week for all us 2013ers! Looks like Serrik has us off to a good start!

55 would be nice, but you can keep the rain! Just about 4-6 more weeks of "active" hurricane season. About 3 weeks or so and the water will start cooling off so that if they form, they wont be massive. I'm ready for this season to be OVER. Waaay too much activity.

👍👍 to the lucky week. We could all use a couple more invites!

I agree and I'm not even from the Hurricane area!! I've got family in Texas and Ike was a little too close for comfort... (along with worrying about Tulane, since I would love to go there!!)

Good morning everyone! September 16 - One month to go! How exciting is that. I can imagine I'll be quite sleepy on this day one month from now, since I'll have to stay up at least til midnite to be sure they don't release acceptances then!

It was an icky start to the day - overslept, then a cop followed me almost all the way from the house to work, so it was a very slow trip (think 2 school zones). But it's getting better now that I'm here and am consuming massive amounts of coffee. Plus, HOUSE starts tonight, and although it may be quite unrealistic, I'm hooked 🙂.

Thank goodness for fall tv. I was getting bored.

How 'bout them Cowboys last night? I admit they were a bit sloppy, but I definitely see potential if Romo & T.O. can continue to hook up like they did. Plus the rookie (Felix Jones) rocked - that 98 yard punt return was AMAZING.

Good morning gradu8in! My first interview is coming up in 7 days (UVM) and I am getting really nervous!

You are going to do FABULOUSLY! Plus, with me and BD2B on the prayer team, who wouldn't have a great shot? 😀

You're going to wow 'em. Review the website a bit and look at the interview feedback from past folks... and have fun!

Thank you for the support! You guys are awesome! I am excited too, and I'm glad Vermont is my first interview - it seems like it's usually laid-back and a bit less stressful. I can't wait to visit their beautiful school and stay in the Hilton! 😀 It will be a much needed break after my crazy weekend coming up!

Just sent "application status check" emails to two of my schools i'm waiting to hear from - University of Tennessee, which I've never received a secondary from, and University of South Alabama, where I've been complete for a few weeks.

Hopefully I'll hear something soon... at least from USA 🙂

Now we wait...

Hey, let us know how that ends up. I'm still waiting on UT as well. That dang "we got your app" email has been sitting in my inbox for going on three months now!

You like -20F and -80F windchill in Feb? 😕

Oh, I didn't know it got that cold. I think the average lows in Jan/Feb are in the single digits which I don't have a problem with. I like to be able to layer my clothing.

I can still withstand those temperatures, though. I guess that's what happens when half of your ancestors came over on a boat from Sweden.

WOW. This Southern Belle thinks anything under 70 degrees is chilly, under 50 is COLD. I love "cold", but I love our idea of cold... few full days in a year where the temp stays below freezing.

Yeah I lived in Houston for 10th and 11th grade, and that was like a personal hell for me. Any place where it's above freezing on Christmas is not cool with me.

It "snowed" (AKA: slushed) at Christmas here a couple years ago. We actually began singing White Christmas again - it had been replaced with other, more realistic, Christmas songs. Haha.

We actually got REAL snow last winter - 4 to 6 inches - which was the most I've ever seen. It was funny, no one knew how to drive or what to do. Thankfully it was a Saturday - although a ton of businesses closed. That would've been crazy on a workday. Brings new meaning to "Snow Day"

Yeah, my brother went to Baylor for undergrad and it "snowed" once when he was there (AKA flurries that melted as soon as the flakes hit the ground) and he said classes were cancelled and everyone was driving like 10 mph.

Hey, let us know how that ends up. I'm still waiting on UT as well. That dang "we got your app" email has been sitting in my inbox for going on three months now!

My email, in part, is as follows:
"Your AMCAS application is still under review and a decision has not been made to offer you the opportunity to complete our supplemental application. We appreciate your continued interest in our medical school and we hope to let you know something very soon! Take care and make it a great rest of the day!"

Well, here's hoping that their definition of "very soon" is close to my definition of "very soon."

May not be what you wanted to hear, but you've got to love that southern charm! 🙂 UT would be a cool school, I spent a couple weeks in Memphis last spring and it has to be one of my favorite cities. I would've applied, but had no state connections whatsoever. I'll root for you instead, Grad!! :luck::luck:

Haha, thanks! MS is considered to be one of their "surrounding states" that they admit from, so even though I don't have much chance, I may have a little bit.

And, yes, LossForWords, my definition of very soon was like, 2 weeks ago. So here's hoping the hold is cleared "very soon".

Oooo! Vandy! Good luck funkmonk! You're going to love that place.

Is it just me or the past few days have been really slow with these interviews?

Thanks. Btw, funkmonk has gotta be the most awesome shortened version of my SDN sn... I cannot wait... I love Tennessee, and it will also be the first interview I will be going to by my self...

LOL! In Rochester? haha they wish. Maybe it will be around then sometimes but it's WINDY there, expect windchills in the 40-50 below zero range regularly. Rochester is def cold enough for a block heater. I'm from WI so fairly used to cold, the couple times I went to Rochester in the winter I almost froze to death...

Yeah. those cali schools are also driving me crazy!

The CA schools besides SD take awhile generally. I got SD and Irvine reasonably early (Oct/Nov), USC/UCD in Dec, UCLA and Stanford in Jan last year...

Wow!!! I guess I should be patient, then. Thanks drizz!

I think SF and SD and Irvine were the earliest to interview last year. I didn't get an interview from SF so I dunno what their exact schedule was though. Yeah, CA and other top schools generally take awhile and IIRC the interview groups are usually a bit smaller too.

Patience is something this med school thing is trying to teach me, but I'm still not learning my lesson too well. It's definitely an issue God and I are working on....

(randomly starts singing)"I want it all.... I want it all....and I want it now"

Can I haz akceptenz plz? The first one I get I am accepting!

well . . . . maybe.

no news, good or bad, this week yet for me...i'm anticipating that thin envelope from Gtown soon though...

haha, i know these days go by painfully slow...esp when i am checking my email compusively twenty times a day.

Grrr.... I just got back from rehearsal and one of my solos (Rock & Roll All Night) was re-assigned. Now I have the least and the shortest solos in the whole show. 🙁 They could have at least given me another solo as a replacement.

I guess I just wasn't meant to sing KISS songs.

Sorry Chad! I guess everyone here is having a bad week 🙁
