Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Pianola, Are you doing your Masters in Statistics?

😆😆😆😆

Sorry, that was a good one. No, I'm in a graduate statistics class as part of an Master of Science...it's kind of fun because I've never taken stats at any level (high school, college, or otherwise) and I've missed 2/3rds of the class so far (interviews). 👍

Taking a grad level class without any of the relevent prerequisites and then subsequently missing as many classes as possible is a guaranteed recipe for success...or...not.

But yeah, it's an MS in a health-related field. Love the degree overall. I even like stats pretty well...but yeah, it's just hard to manage missing so many classes.

i'm watching and trying to go to sleep....but i'm not tired :/

have to be up EARLY to drive to Philly. i hope i don't get lost or hit massive traffic. keep your fingers crossed😛

Cross stitching sounds like good old fashion, non-brain-taxing fun. I was into it a little when I was 10 or so. I know, what 10 year old boy does stuff like that, but it was kinda fun.

Maybe I should take it up again...

it is. i think too hard most all the time... it truly gives me an outlet to relax.

This is my current project.

It's for Mom for Christmas. The little girl looks a lot like I did at that age. She's going to love it.

Wow. That's really impressive.

I think the last thing I did was the word "SOCCER" with a soccerball for the "O."

I wonder if I have that stored at my house somewhere....

Thanks! It has a long way to go, but I'll make it. 🙂 Keeps me busy during this horrendous "waiting season"

So I love how there is one class I can take in the winter, and FIVE in the spring.

One a night (two on Monday) and an online.

I'll probably take two to three.

Wassup everybody! This is the day that the Lord has made. My and our invites are coming real soon! All we have to do is hang on folks and keep praying and believing. God bless yall!

BD, you're always such a ray of sunshine in this thread! I'm feeling pretty down today with no sleep and a lot of work to do, and I just read your hopeful post and it made me smile 🙂 . Keep it up, good things are coming to you soon!

How many of you 2013ers like to drink black tea? I want to drink tea over coffee in medical school and beyond because I hate how regular coffee makes me feel. Fru Fru coffee is a different beast, but I cannot afford a $4 a cup addiction :O
I agree with gradu8in and lfw. Coffee is the way to go.

I don't drink coffee maybe an iced coffee smoothie type concoction 1-3 times a year, but I do enjoy hot tea. I take it 'black'. Green tea is my favorite but there are an amazing amount of different tea flavors and types, coffee is boring in comparison. Caffeine doesn't do anything for me, many times it will make me more tired.

Well, that's the first time I've seen this thread not on the first page in a while.

So, anyone still watch South Park? I found out the season premier is tonight.

i think i may be in love 😍 .... with Jefferson

Really?? What did you like so much about it? I've got an interview in a couple weeks but I've been having a harder time than other schools getting info about the school.

So I just had a missed call on my cell phone from a number at my undergrad (class of '07). My first thought was, "maybe it's a professor that knows someone on the admissions committee at that school I applied to and he found out that I've been accepted and wants to tell me before the 15th!!"

So I called it back and it was the alumni office asking for donations.

Now I feel really stupid.

lol. I had to. Just a tiny lol. But I would do the same thing and I know it!

Hey guys!

So I'm halfway done with my 4-interview trip, after which I'll have nothing to do but sit and wait (the endless drought continues...), and I'm currently sitting at my host's apartment at Duke. Here's a problem I never really considered: I like ALL of these schools. Sure, one of them in particular was a somewhat worse fit than the others, but so far I've seen 4 and I think (I haven't interviewed here yet so I guess I'll know better tomorrow) I would be really really happy at 3 of them.......
Which actually sucks a little bit because it puts way more pressure on things. I guess it was too much to ask to only fall for one school and have it be the one I was most likely going to get into. Unfortunately, my assumptions about certain schools have proven to be totally false and I have, in fact, made an ass of you and me.

Sigh.

The wait until March is going to be torturous and evil and uuuughhhhh

well you know what that means?? You really cant go wrong, no matter what you pick!

Well, if you'd be equally happy at all 3 of them, then you can let the financials be the final straw.

It seems like it would suck to fall in love with a school then find out it'll be $10 grand more than your other schools.

Yeah yeah I know I can't go wrong I just...I don't know. They're kinda ranked in my head and the one that's in first place is the least likely one, so...sigh.

So far the interviews have gone well! NYMC was good, Sinai I think went really really well. I guess we'll see how the terrifying ethics-centered Duke ones are gonna go...

Glad to hear it's going well, LET! I also liked your little blurbs in your mdapps about the schools, they were very entertaining and informative. Good thing you have that humanities major to increase your communication skills 😉 lol.. It inspired me to add little blurbs to my mdapps, if just to help me remember what I liked about the schools. Good luck tomorrow!

Haha thank you, I'm really writing them for that same purpose- so I myself can remember what I liked and didn't like. Really, what with the various hospitals I've seen, all the med schools are starting to blur together. By the time I get to my last one on monday, I'm going to start actually saying the wrong name at the interview 😱

And thanks for the good luck! God knows I'll need it...

um....i fell in love before the interview day started. as i was driving into the city and then walking around the area, it just felt right. odd feeling, i know. but it felt very comfortable and a place i could live. liked the campus. all the people were way enthusiastic and seemed to genuinely like it. very relaxed day over all. negatives--as chubby said, large class size and (imho) that there are like 3 afternoons a week tied up (unlike another fave right now of Maryland)...but, i don't know. i just really liked the area and the people i met.

and the 300 person class size?
actually, 255 😉 but...if you're rounding....
i realize it's a big class size, but i think that isn't necessarily an issue

You may feel that way now, but make sure you still use protection. You'll thank yourself later. :meanie:

haha. good advice. it's kinda tied with 2 others at the moment (of the schools i've interviewed at)

Hi Mrs. in2003!

And LET, I'm in 😍 with the spanky new duds.
