Class of 2013!!!

I don't know what is "worse" (notice the quotation marks, because neither is bad, I'm just saying), going in as non-trad or being thought of as not yet of drinking age by your patients when they first see you. I look sorta young for my age, and I'll get my M.D. when I'm 25 if all goes according to plan. Should be interesting.
 
Speaking of old folks, I'm about to be asleep myself. Haha. I'm going to take another couple of hours nap so that I can come back for the big announcements at 12:01 AM 🙂

Yeah, you know honestly, if I get rejected...it will probably be many years before I apply again (if I do). It's too expensive and I think my app can only really go downhill from here. Seriously, I worked so gosh-darn hard to be where I am.

But honestly, if everyone rejects me, I think that's a pretty solid way of finding out that I'm not meant for the medical profession. I know I gave it my darndest and if it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be...

That's really about all I can say, I guess...I can make my peace with rejection because at least that's a VERY clear signal about what I should NOT be doing with my life. I'm just that confident that I gave it everything I humanly had.

Yeah. I'm pretty young too. I'll get my MD by 25.

I really think I did too... I don't know what else I can do. I will finish my master's next year, and reapply with that.. but other than that... AH!

Ok, no more bad thoughts.
 
This was going to be my only application round, I gave it everything I got, applied to 28390 schools, spent 12 trillion dollars, if all these med schools decided I wasn't doctor material I was ready to move on with my life.

Random thought: When asked in an interview what would I do if I was never accepted to medical school, I told them I would be a chef, they laughed at me!!!!😡

Ok, now I'm seriously feeling old. amph and berken, You guys are gonna be doctors by the time you're my age? Good lord. I hope you're going into geriatrics so that you can take care of me in my old age 😛.

And, heh, true story: I said I would do a DMA (doctor of musical arts) if I didn't get accepted.

Exactly. Might be a non-trad thing but here's my thought: If I'm NOT accepted, I'm really not any worse of than I am right now. Maybe a few thousand dollars poorer, but not altogether worse off. If I AM accepted, how awesome is that?

I feel like I'm too old to be hurt by rejection or something. Lol. And I'm at the ripe old age of 24 m'dears.

What's UB? University of...? And chubs, you know I'd feel bad for you and all but with a wake forest acceptance, you're PROBABLY ok. 😉

Pianola...you are not old!!! You've got to be kidding me. Unless you were in your 40s, then I'd understand. But you're in your mid-20s!!!
 
For the Vandyers:

I'm right there with you. I was so excited to have that interview early, but to be honest, I've gotten a lot better at answering the trickier questions with time, and looking back I feel like I could have done a lot better at Vandy. It's really too bad cause it's so high up on my list. Ah well, hopefully you guys will get the dean's call tomorrow! Eeeeeexcitement!!!

Yeah. I had an interviewer ask "So, you've been doing this activity since you were 16...so that's 10 years!"
Berken: "No, it's like 4 or 5 years"
Interviewer: "Ohh I was assuming you're 24-25"
Berken: "No I'm like 20-21"
Interviewer: "Wow...that's young."

Not the best conversation. :scared:
 
screw a dean's call, I want a dean to come to my house, preferably with a pizza and a 6-pack...now that is how you accept someone 🙂

I was at Buffalo right after Vandy, so I had been jaded. I LOVED Vandy, and Buffalo could not compare. Also I liked SUNY Upstate more than Buffalo, so I was not too sad at getting the waitlist.

I really hope UB adcom does not read this.

Hey, you have an acceptance, so you should not be sad... unlike the rest of us waiting for the phone call, email, snail mail or sky writing message saying that we got accepted.

yeah..i mean its really funny how ppls impressions of schools change after interviewing...one of my top choices dropped and vice versa.

I dunno, mine have mostly increased after interviewing, except for one school...

Well, I came here for some good old fashioned neuroticism and instead I feel old! I'm 23 so I'll be 24 when/if I start and 28 when/if I get my MD.
