Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
any other 49er fans out there? That game was exciting, but in the end, depressing. *sigh*

Jets fan here. LAST week was truly depressing for me. You guys definitely deserved to win, but now the playoffs are in jeopardy for us. Now I'm resorting to hoping the Fins and Pats lose (not this week obviously).

hahahahahahahaha...Congrats dude!!!! I am praying you hear good news from them in January. To be honest, you have such a positive spirit that clearly resonates throughout this thread...and I think it has rubbed off on several of us. I do not really follow the threads anymore (since I am busy with med school stuff myself), but it seems every time I come on hear you are providing words of encouragement. That's really awesome!

and yes...Phil 4:13 is the perfect verse

Congrats...and just thanks for being who you are.

cya around!!!!

Wassup RiceMan. Thank you for your post. I greatly appreciate it. I am just trying to be a light in a process that can seem real dark. Just letting the Lord use me. Plus I love to encourage people and try to get people to see outside of their situations. Plus it makes it easier to be like this cuz I am surrounded by great people in here. This is a team sport we are getting ourselves into and we have to support each other to the fullest.

That is the verse I live my life by. It has come in handy many times.

Thank you and thank you! God bless!

Oh and Spurs and Berken, Good luck on finals!:luck::luck::luck:

hahaha, sorry dude. We were just getting revenge for all the times favre beat us with GB .

Sorry we didnt help you out this week, i'm really bitter. We deserved to win, and joey porter is ofiically a giant douche. He thinks he's so good b/c he got that sack at the end of the game. He got SHUT down by vernon davis, and only had 3 tackles prior to that. He made that sack against like our 3rd string tackle (VD wasn't in that play for some strange reason).Sorry for the angry rant, but that game pretty much describes our entire season!!!

Thank you! I need a lot of luck for tomorrow's final. 🙂

You'll be fine, berken.

Yeah, echoing an earlier comment from funky, the motivation to check studentdoctor has noticeably diminished since school has ended 😉

No worries, didn't catch much of the SF game. I was too busy watching the Jets sweat out a victory against the Bills. Thank the Lord for Abram Elam and J.P Losman's poor decision making.

Thanks! Yeah, it's going to be an all-nighter tonight, which is very bad... I only have 3 of the 7 essays I need to be prepped for History of China outlined so far (we'll get two of them on the actual exam- topics are super broad: Authority, the Qianlong emperor, Family, Alternations/Dualisms [yin/yang, legalism/Confucianism, etc], Intellectuals, the West since the 19th century, modern ideology, and Mao), and haven't even looked at any of the matching art slides!

...and then I have molecular bio on Tuesday😱

And yet, here I am 😀

haha I'm here too. I have an 8 am final, so I'm going to sleep for 6 hours (I'd rather be well rested than pull an all-nighter). Good luck spurs :luck:

Haha yeah mine's an 8:30 final, but I haven't much of a choice... I'm not ready for the exam, so I have to stay up. All the sleep in the world won't help me if I have no idea who Mao Zedong is 😛 (exaggeration, perhaps, but I don't feel like it's much of one!)

good luck Berken, Spurs, and anybody else still studying for finals!

Heh yeah.

Btw, you guys got LA and Oden already. Trade us Przybilla 😛

Hinrich + Gooden + draft pick for him?

Heh, maybe we need a basketball discussion thread.

Haha, I'm glad Joel "the Vanilla Godzilla" Przybilla is getting some credit! He's definitely been rock solid for us, a real pro. I always liked Hinrich although I have no idea why he dropped off the face of the earth so fast. We'll take Gooden only if he promises to keep his beard growing antics to a minimum!

Sadly, any basketball discussion thread would get moved to "all students," where it would immediately die 🙁

Seriously depressing. I could see it lasting a post or two.

Anyone else been worrying a bit about how to get in some runs during med school? Right now, I play basketball bout 2 hours a day at least 5 times a week...can't imagine being able to keep that up with the schedule of a med student 🙁

... because he screwed up his thumb? There's just a general rule that you don't trade for injured guys (see: Rice, Glen). Plus, why would you guys even want Hinrich... I think just about everyone would love for Jerryd Bayless to be their THIRD string PG! 😛 The only way Portland makes a deal at this point would be to either package some of their young guys and/or LaFrentz's contract to be a bona-fide star; when your team's already got a quality backup at every single position, why waste time and risk chemistry to rearrange deck chairs?

And you've got it all wrong, at this point in his career, the only reason Gooden is remotely worth the salary he's making is to draw fans to the arena to see what he's cooked up lately.😎

Don't worry; as long as your school has a workout place with a court, and you're willing to play, say, 1 hour a day, I think you should be good. Obviously you won't be able to play during exam weeks, but I don't think it shoudl be the end of the world as we know it (I hope!).

Spurs.. it is 4 in the morning for you. What are you doing on SDN?😛 How many essays have you outlined so far?

Haha, just humoring him with the trade talk. I love our team right now. The only one who drives me absolutely NUTS every game is Travis Outlaw. Terrible shot selection, hustles once every three games, has a brilliant [read: lucky] game every month...ugh. But I like where we are heading, if everything goes according to plan (a big if, with out history of unfortunate injuries), we should be very dangerous for a long time.

Cutting down on the ball won't be the end of the world, but I'll be sad to see it go. Guess I'll have to make the most of my time left!

You're up late, isn't it like 5am in Texas? What are you doing on SDN?!

Oooh, fail, it was actually 5 when I wrote that 😀 And I've got them all outlined... now I just have to memorize those outlines so I can pull them out at will in a couple of hours...

Hey, I got a random 1 hour nap, that's all I need right? SDN is recharging my batteries...

(Or I'm addicted. One of the two. I can't tell which.)

(Help.)

That might be as likely as Eddy Curry being in shape for a full season

Yeah :-/ I'm sure I'll still be able to get a bunch of run in. You always find time for basketball. Not sure how I'm gonna keep watching my Bulls games though :-/

That is true 🙁. But do you really think of Przybilla as part of their core? Gooden's contract expires this year, and they're going to need to resign all the young guys soon (See Gordon, Ben). Also, I do feel Hinrich has become a lot underrated. I wouldn't for example, put Bayless in front of him, but I might just be a homer. Hinrich seems better at running the team as a backup point guard, and he did make the all-defensive 2nd team 2 years ago. Not sure how good bayless's defense is.

Yeah, thank god you're in the west. Well, hopefully we'll see some Rose-Oden finals in the future

Is today the magic day you may hear back from ur first interview? (I heard a 12/15 tossed around at some point).

I dunno about BlackDr2B, but I'm waiting for a (hopefully) phone call from Upstate sometime this week :xf:

They said that we would hear back from them around the 2nd week of December which was last week so I don't know. We shall see. I am being patient, plus I am still uberly excited about my trip to Howard. Howard told us that we should hear in January. Man I hope I get accepted there.

Very very true. I do look forward to getting the first one. I have faith in the Lord and I trust Him to do what He said He would do!

Yay! Columbia and Cornell interviews back-to-back that do not conflict with school! How much luckier could I get???? Woooohoooo!

Wow look at the med school apps rockstar we've got here!

(But seriously, congrats, have lots of fun 🙂)

Thanks, guys 🙂 I still have a long time before they turn *me* down 😉 But I am excited that I get to visit and I am excited that I get to do it one trip so that I don't get lost all over New York City. And I get to visit my sister!!

I called the three schools I'm still waiting on: Harvard, JHU, and UPenn. Hopkins and UPenn more or less said "don't hold your breath" and Harvard said "We're not telling." So I think I'm pretty much done for the year.

Yay! Now all I have to worry about is FAFSA. :xf::xf::xf: for some aid!

Out of curiosity, did you write a letter of interest or a letter of intent to NYU? (It's ok if you don't want to answer...no pressure, I was just wondering).

i was going to until i called and found out that some acceptances will probably be mailed in december. if i do not hear by new years i will send a letter of interest (maybe intent?) in early/mid january

I am kind of sad at the fact that I did not like Mt. Sinai as much as I thought I would. It may be due to my prejudices against New York City... no offense ar2388...🙁 I am sorry, but I am not a big fan. I did get to go on a subway for the first time and it was exciting though...😀

After my interview, all I could think about was Southwestern...😕 I guess I am gonna cancel Case then...
Maybe I am just burnt out and really sick of interviews... This was #13...

Oh, and congrats pianola for scoring the Columbia invite also!

Thanks, funky 🙂 Yeah, I've heard it's going to be raining in NYC this entire week. I usually like NYC, but then again, I never have to navigate (my sister helps me find places) and when I go to visit her, it's usually a 'special occasion' and we get good food 👍 I think that makes a huge difference in my perception, probably.

Hope the rest of your visit goes well, funky...

I actually got the perfect weather. It was 60 degrees yesterday, which was really nice. I am back home in Irvine though... Right when I reached LaGuardia last night, it started to drizzle, so I got to see New York in the nice weather. I guess it just didn't click... it seems more like the city that I would visit, rather than a place I would live...

:luck:Good luck on your interviews and come March you will have a tough decision ahead of you😛

haha no worries funky.. im sure you know how to drive a car and that is better than i can say 🙂 LOL
