Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Haha, I think you know who my favorite person is, Spurs 😉.

Honestly, I swear my temper is much better in real life. My tolerance for ignorance and insults is also somewhat higher, too.

I should probably delete the nasty part of my post but I don't want to go back to the thread again even to delete that. You can do that if you want, Spurs (or maybe some other mod already has).

I just have this horrible, horrible vision of this poor girl burning to death. Literally burning to death. I didn't know her well, but I knew her well enough...
There's so much B*tch@$$ness on these forums that I don't even have the energy to fully retaliate against them all. Also, I don't want to get banned. In real life though, I tend to not make comments that AREN'T below the belt, just pointed/sharp/spot-on responses. 😀

I only get like that for a reason though. I don't think there's anything wrong with a reactionary response and I'd never provoke someone without cause.

Evening? Seriously... you non PST people:laugh:

I am reading, while waiting to get picked up.

gosh chad idk. if I were you I'd probably go with VCU. but that's because I hate change and would give everything to be able to stay in my current area instead of move.

I hate moving.

Honestly, though, both are great schools. You'll make the right choice.

I'd go to Maryland... a bunch of my relatives went there and really liked it. My inlaw that went to VCU... not so much.

So guys, any thoughts on VCU vs. Maryland?

I loved both Schools when I visited, and I still like both of these schools, which is why I still hold my acceptances here, and I have withdrawn from my other schools.

These thoughts come to mind, and sorry for the jumbled ideas.
Maryland does have a bigger name, but VCU is rising quickly in the ranks.
VCU has excellent clinical education and the whole city of Richmond, while Maryland has to share Baltimore with JHU.
Apparently Baltimore is not a nice city, but I thought it was lovely, and I really like Richmond, because it seems like a small version of a Big City.
Both schools have the nicest admissions people.
Richmond has UNOS, so if you want to do transplant surgery, you will be in the right place.
Baltimore is a bigger city, so there are more venues in terms of entertainment, but Richmond has its own stuff.
The weather is the same, except I think Baltimore gets cold.
Maryland has more afternoons off(8-12 except on 2 days, if I am not mistaken), while VCU uses the traditional 8-5 system.
Both have basically the same grading system. Maryland has ABCDF, while VCU has Honors, High Pass, Pass, Marginal Pass, Fail.
Maryland has a rural health rotation requirement, which I think is cool, but I do not know how other people would perceive of it.
VCU has Dr. Constanzo who literally wrote the book on Physiology, but my sister tells me that her test questions are harder. This may be due to the fact that they are written in Boards style, since she writes questions for USMLE. I am not sure how Maryland fares for boards, but it is well.
VCU has a more diverse class, while most of Maryland ends up being Marylanders.
VCU has the preceptorship so you get clinical stuff right away, but I forgot about Maryland.
VCU does not have their own sim patients, and they borrow them from EVMS, but my sister says that it is not that much of a hindrance.

This is all I can think of at the moment. I hope it helps.😀

If you can't decide, you can always... buy two lobsters, write the name of a school on each, give them knives, and let them fight a duel!

Supposedly UNC is to win... that's who I picked...yay...haha.
Considering Ty Lawson wont be playing the first game, and probably not any of the games in the first week...Im not too sure on that.

I can see UNC going as far as winning the whole thing or losing in the sweet sixteen, possibly even against LSU or Butler. Neither would suprise me.

I don't know. My guy roommate luckily made dinner at 5:30. Who the **** decides to prepare a weeks worth of meals during dinner time? Don't you do that **** earlier in the day? There are three other people here that would like to eat dinner.

Are you going camping?

Just got into Georgetown Med (very excited!) but also accepted at Jefferson. Thoughts on which to go to?

I cant bring myself to fork over the extra 200/month to get a single apartment, on top of that id have to pay for all of my internet/cable, electricity, etc.

Aye. I pay about 7000 a year to live where I am at now (all expenses). I'd figure at the most I'll spend an extra 3000 while at PCOM. My rent is exactly the same as now and the bills should be comparable, with a roommate.

I don't like paying the extra $$$, but I like living bymyself. The extra money will probably bother me more in medschool when I don't have a job, but I'm probably still going to live by myself.

I can't stomach the thought of a roommate I don't know...or barely know... at this point in my life.

been there done that with the roommate thing.
thats true...maybe next year though??

Ive had a good roomate and a super sketch roomate. Thankfully, I am friends with the one for next year.

oh yeah... one of my college roommates is my absolute best friend/sister. I wouldn't mind living with someone if I already knew them... but then again, the solitude will be nice.

Hopefully the next person I live with will be a s.o. 🙂:xf:😍
