I 😍 that picture so much. How could you resist that kitten, anyway?

So p, incidentally, what would you think of Mr. Nola having two line-dancing lines of Texas women lining up to marry him? 😉

Incidentally, how is everyone else doing on fin aid packages? Is Baylor unusual in that it hasn't sent out fin aid yet, or is that what y'all are seeing from other schools too?

I got one of my packages on Monday.

I get so pissed off at posters who see becoming a doctor as "a good way to get women".

Because that's what we all want to do, naturally. Since none of us are women.

-----

And all those threads about "women just want to marry rich doctors."

Since women can't actually become doctors themselves these days.

Yeah, I got a scholarship from one school and dead silence from everywhere else. No other news about tuition. Maybe things are slower in the south? 😛😛

Haha, Mr. Nola is NOT having any Texas women lining up to marry him if he knows what's good for him!!! :meanie::meanie:

Perhaps the midwest is slow as well. Never you mind that I turned my stuff in 4 days before the due date...😏

*shrug* Life's too short to waste time getting angry at the words of small-minded idiots 🙂

Soooo... just so we're clear, you're totally cool with having double standards? :meanie:

Yeah UF said no news until ~ May 1st. But we're getting down to the wire, though!

...living well is the best revenge?

small-minded male idiots! If we can be specific, we should be!:laugh::laugh:

😍 Myuu. Yeah there are a lot of threads on here that seem to not-get that there are actually a number of women seeking entrance to (and gaining entrance to!) medical school.

I'm guessing those threads aren't started by women.

Oh, he can have a line-up of male Texas line-dancers if he wants 😀.

:laugh:masses of people are walking around drunk on campus

going to the gym...then to chill (read sip on sizzzzuurrrrrrrrrrp) with friends :laugh:

then off to GUSTER aka hippie music  and then more sipping on sizzzzzzzzzzzurrrrrrrrrrrrrrp

If you feel the need to get revenge... 🙂

... not ALL men are pigs 😳

Oh, he can have a line-up of male Texas line-dancers if he wants 😀.

Hmmm this does not quite seem equivalent...

Hmmm this does not quite seem equivalent...

1. Why would I not want to demonstrate that I am a successful woman-physician -- when there are people who have not considered that such women exist?

And yeah, when there is considerable threaddage with posters who freely voice their opinions about "women like rich men, women like doctors" then yes, it puts me on the defensive. I am a woman. No one makes generalizations like that about men.

"Getting women" is almost viewed as a "acquiring a commodity" these days on SDN. I am not a commodity. I am a human being.

2. No, not all men are pigs. Most men aren't pigs.

3. Haha, why is it not equivalent??

what's going on? Why all the anger towards men?

Yeah I'm a man hater!!! 😀 Don't tell Mr. Nola, though

haha.

Minor drama in another thread...

Yeah, I mean, I dunno, I just have to laugh when a poster indicates that they are becoming a doctor to "get women".

It happens all the time. I just wonder what sort of women these posters are "getting" and what sort of person they assume I am because I'm a woman.

That's all.

I won't start an SDN walkout or anything. I just don't quite get where they're coming from.

Hehe, maybe I'm more of a feminist than I thought.

Haha...well, there are a few things I'm kind of interested in talking to you about, but I couldn't figure out how to phrase them just right at the moment (4 hrs of sleep 👎) Maybe I'll get a chance to catch you later on AIM, after I've refreshed myself 🙂

:laugh::laugh:OK, I had to cross-post this from the Texas thread:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Texas governor says secession possible
Posted: 11:56 AM ET

From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney

(CNN) — Texas Gov. Rick Perry isn't ruling out the possibility his state may one day secede from the nation.

Speaking to an energetic and angry tea party crowd in Austin Wednesday evening, the Lone Star State governor suggested secession may happen in the future should the federal government not change its fiscal polices.

"There's a lot of different scenarios," Perry said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot." (Video below: Tea party fires up debate)

Perry, who is beginning to gear up for what could be a challenging re-election race, rejected more than $500 million in federal stimulus funds earlier this year and has been highly critical of President Obama's stimulus package. (Related: Joe "The Plumber" speaks at Michigan tea party)

His comments come a week after endorsing a resolution in the Texas state House reasserting state sovereignty over federal mandates.

Specifically it states that "all compulsory federal legislation that directs states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties or sanctions or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding be prohibited or repealed."

Texas, America's second biggest state in area and population, was its own nation for 10 years before joining the United States in 1845.

Should Texas one day secede, one man may already be vying to be its president. Actor Chuck Norris said last month he may be interested in the post.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

Blergh, I ended up having to work late half an hour. ON A FRIDAY, no less. Just waiting for my files to be backed up before I leave for the weekend.

Awesome. Yes! Please do 🙂.

The whole women-can't-be-doctors and "aren't you a nurse" things really grind my gears too.

Yeah.

Best quote ever:

I have a brain and a uterus... and I use (or plan on using) both.

👍👍 I'm sure as heck gonna try!

No, nevermind that.

*Back on soapbox*

We can do it all. And we can do it WELL.

I'm sure as heck gonna try! Right there with you, OMBD.

I have nothing against those who don't want to have all three roles, but I see nothing wrong WITH the trio either.

I, for one, can't wait.

I deifnitely am a supporter of anyone who can do it!

I just worry about managing the trio. I'd like to think that I could be good at all 3, but realistically, I think might need some wiggle-room to carry a fetus in me for 9 months and lactate for 12 months all the while forgoing caffeine, alcohol, and almost anything else you might imagine.

I mean, I think for me it would be wishful thinking to say that I'd be exactly as productive as a man during that same time period.

But I definitely love that I have the opportunity to try all 3 😀. And I know there are many women who will manage all 3 beautifully.

Will this work day ever end? Big weekend plans anyone?

Less than 20 minutes 👍

No real plans, except my cousins have soccer tournaments tomorrow in town, so I'll probably run over and watch for a bit if the weather turns out ok. If they win, they're staying the night so they can play again sunday.

Hopefully getting better and studying for a class I have slept through for the past 3 weeks...

Oh and apparently the duedate for my thesis has been moved up a week😡 It is due right after my molecular bio midterm😡😡 Which means I will not be able to spend as much time at the Festival of Books as I wanted to😡😡😡

That's exciting, best of luck to your cousins.

It is so much easier having a Y chromosome:meanie:

I think we all do. For me, I know I'll probably have to cut back hours at work - and I'm perfectly OK with that.

Uh oh, heating up in angry faces. Never a good sign.
