Class of 2013!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
They're also probably puzzled at my mother's total lack of a retirement fund, as, according to her, "you're my retirement fund, sweety".

same here, except my mom does have some retirement funds, my stepdad is a really kind and generous person. my dad probably won't support me at all, he did not for undergrad.

True..but 0debt is better then 150 debt. I mean thats a little house or a down payment on a big ass house, lol

Eh, you can afford to buy a big ass house anyways at the same time as paying down your student loans (or not, if you don't care) quickly. They're really not that relevant with the magnitude of income you're looking at with most specialties.

OR offer to use iphone and macbook pro throughout medical school in exchange for full COL from Apple.

That's a thought! I'm kind of a techie geek, anything that gets me gadgets on a normal basis works for me.

You'll make an excellent media doctor because of that! (And I'll brag that I knew you)

Haha ok I'll just have to actually get into model shape (when pigs fly, basically) and then I can be the next Dr. Oz.

Besides, you're the one who's going to be on "Hopkins" soon!

Yeah, I think it'll probably be the same for me...and hopefully she'll help with the car payments since I'll have to buy a car :scared:

get a used one for cheap or take the old car from the family when your parents get a new one. then once you are an attending, get a new car 🙂

For M3 and M4 I'm going to get my mom's old 1998 Corolla. She's going to get a hybrid in two years. It does suck to not have a car from 16 until 23 though.

Eh, I can't do that, 1) because my mom will only help me pay for said car if I lease (I think she wants to give me her car when she buys a new one in a couple of years, so she wants me to have a leased car until then; plus leases are cheaper) and you can't really lease a used car; and 2) cause she wants me to have all the possible safety bells and whistles so I basically get to drive a tank with electronic stability control, and that stuff is all pretty recent.

So, a new car it is. Now I just have to figure out what in the universe I can afford.

The car is the cheap part. The lack of driving experience and a new car will cause your premiums to skyrocket, considering you'll have to include collision coverage.

:roflcopter: This author's first name is Cinnamon.

Ha, this one time I had to write a research paper and present it in front of my seminar class, the guest lecturer of which was basically THE number 1 expert in the field. Anyway, I'd written the research paper super quickly and hadn't given too much thought to the names of the authors.

However, as I'm presenting, I suddenly go "then, in the classic 2007 study by Phundung and Goo...."

and I started laughing my ***** off right in front of mr super duper PhD and couldn't stop for like, 5 minutes.

SCNT can do this too.

at a talk I went to two weeks ago, I was told that it has not been done successfully yet. they are having issues with making the mold or something like that. Even then, there's the problem of transplant and having the body accept the organ, followed by whether life is significantly prolonged because the procedure would be very costly.

Stupid midwest, I had to sell my MB convertible and get something practical b/c of snow 🙁

well, depends on the state

Also, many of the people at shorewood have a convertible for the summer.

I daily drove an 08 civic hybrid when I was in CA... it was key for being able to go in the carpool lane. SL was the fun car 🙁

I hate driving on snow. I'm happy it snows and then remember I have to drive in it. I've gotten quite good at it since our roads often do not get plowed or are plowed poorly. I'm a master at FWD in the snow.

Theoretically then... we could avert the whole rejection qualm by collecting core blood or some other form of embryonic stem cells from each fetus.

the rejection isn't the biggest problem. to even start considering it, you have to make a completely working heart. and to do that, you need a mold.

trust me, SL65 is completely and thoroughly worthless 9 months out of the year here.

Since when is mississippi in the midwest?

Actually my lexus was pretty good in the snow, RWD is pretty fun but you need good tires. I have a FWD car now though... 07 Acura TL, it's good in the snow but not as fun as my other cars 🙁

I still have two convertibles here (well targas) that I'll bring out in the summer but I wouldn't ever drive the SL here, the roads are too poor quality for a car like that.

If he proposes! I want to know...
:scared:
🙁 But that means you'll be taken...

If he proposes (5 years later) and we are both still on SDN, you will absolutely know. 😀😀

[I'm pretty sure I already count as "taken". 😛]

Same with my parents😀
95 Honda...105K miles.

08 Corolla... I think it has 20K+ on it, but I am not sure...I drive about 7 miles every weekend to do grocery shopping, and nothing more... My mom uses it since her car died... I know that my dad's 03 Corolla has 205K+ on it though....

So I went to Dr. Wangari Maathai's lecture today... it was funny and amazing...

Oh and Giada De Laurentiis will be speaking at the LA Times Festival of Books this Sunday😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Thank God, I am volunteering on Saturday, so sunday I will be able to attend her talk/culinary session😀😎👍

Oh sure, right when I get on SDN, everyone leaves

Fine, I'll go do my homework then🙁
