A $50 tablet for your PC or notebook can also be useful for stuff like that. I love my tablet... 😀 Rather than print notes, just write straight on them on your comp, etc... very nice!

Unfortunately, I couldn't have said it better myself. But now the student fitness center is a 3 min. walk from my apt...so I have no excuses anymore 😀

Tablet PC or just USB tablet addition? I've got a USB add-on... it's pretty sweet 😀 (Although, I do admit that I'd love to have an LCD to write on...)

Oh, and as an unrelated aside, I just noticed I spelled "write" as "right" *sigh*. Methinks I need to put off med-school for a while and repeat elementary English. LOL
 
I haven't been exercising well lately either, but I have a built-in stairstepper (aka inside stairs) in the house now, so there's no excuse between that, the apt fitness center, and the inside track in the fitness center at school

You should! During orientation the center for academic performance took a whole afternoon with us and had us take the VARK http://www.vark-learn.com/english/index.asp, which gives a little insight into what kind of learner you are-visual, aural, read/write, kinesthetic, etc.

Turns out I was heavily set on read/write-I have to read and write out everything to get it, haha. So, since I can't afford it and I can't kill forests each semester, I get to hand write on the powerpoints with my tablet 😀 So I don't need to print them out anymore ( I CAN NOT type up notes as I am listening to them....it literally makes me nervous).
 
And closing up on the first week of medical school, here is what has happened:
Sunday-Monday: My desktop, my baby, got either a virus or it just too old, etc. and completely froze up on me.
Monday: Spilled water, a lot of water, on my iPod touch. That I actually need for school (epocrates).
Tuesday: Somehow, the little pointer thing in the middle of the keyboard lost its cap. I have had the laptop for 7 days at this point.

Desktop status: After going THROUGH THE REGISTRY, to manually remove my virus software so I could install a new one, it's working. But after all the hours, I think I might just reload XP.

iPod status: It works, but the screen is almost black. Per the recommendation of the IT guys at school, put it in a bag of rice to absorb the moisture. Didn't work. Put a hair dryer to the back, didn't work. So a trip to the Apple store tomorrow to see if I can get it fixed :xf:
Laptop: As trivial as it is, I went to the IT people and the guy in charge is the definition of awesome-took one look at it and went and ripped off the model one he received and gave it to me. So it looks like it's new, and not 5 years old 😀

Exam in 8 days.....so. crazy.

We got laptop tablets. flippin awesome. I didn't know the usb one's existed, thats pretty cool though!

The adoption process is soooo long!

My aunt and uncle conference call about the youngest of the 6 they are looking to adopt (he's been separate from the others b/c of age) on the 7th, followed by a conference meeting with all the social wrkers and judges on the 18th. If all goes well, the kids will be to them by mid-Sept.

The uncle got his prosthesis today, the furniture for the kids came, and the Memphis tornado ended up a good few miles east of them. 👍

I dreamt I could talk to them like Harry Potter and the dark guy who could not kill Harry (don't know how to spell his name...Raaska...WHERE YOU AT????...SPELL IT FOR ME 😀), but this one snake kept bothering me

I move to relocate this thread to allo. It no longer belongs in the pre-med section, especially since all the threads around it are of people freaking out about secondary applications and their personal statement being too long and controversial.

PS-You all should be jealous about how enormous and cheap my apartment is. Coming from LA, this is like a dream 😀

I can't wait to see my apartment (move in is Sunday! 😀). It's kind of nerve-wracking having signed a lease without having seen even the building!

I won't have internet till Tuesday night though... What am I going to do? :scared: If I'm lucky, a neighbor will have an unsecured wireless network. Or maybe there'll be a cafe around the corner with free wireless or something.
 
Now i"m going to do some reading for histology. I have the info as to what's covered on our first exam and since I have the book I have decided to start reading.

I don't consider this pre-studying, as it is actual exam material.

I understand that too... I had seen the buildings but not my actual apartment til move in. It was great tho 🙂
