i really need a new computer and I was alll set on getting a Dell studio 15 and then my dad's friend who's a computer internet something or other told him that dell isnt that good anymore and recommended toshiba... anyone here use toshiba or know about it? is it good?

As to the Dell/Toshiba issue, we're all required to have either Dells or Macs here. I've seen older Toshiba machines, though, and they're fairly solid. Dell seems to be revisiting its mass-production low qc standards issue, but they have a fairly solid warranty. If the computer guy says go Toshiba, first find out what his motivations are 🙂laugh🙂, then decide if you're ok with following him.👍

Just finished first week. Right now the 4th years are scaring us straight. We don't start Anatomy until Monday. At least I know I like all my dissection table.
 
Woohoo, 1st week of med school done, only 1386 days to go!

Anatomy starts this monday! Our cadaver was embalmed so no splashing of the body as it is lifted in and out... I am not sure how to feel about that...

I just had my first interview at Vandy for anyone who may care. 🙂 I hung with LET, she's awesome!

Wow, hope it went well! 2 months from now...October, ain't too bad to be hearing back one way or another! At least you'll know before x-mas (hopefully). I wish you the best, thats a great school.



White coat cerimony tomorrow...er..this morning 😉. Ill have to pry myself out of bed in a few hours 🙁. Went and hung out with a bunch of Iowa Staters tonight. Fun times. I figured a little celebrating was in order after doing above average on my first exam. The average was an effin 90% 😱. Welcome to med school I guess. Class rank is gonna be a humbling experience, I forsee 🙄.
 
I had a pretty decent birthday 🙂 The lab went fabulously, my partner ROCKS! And the family is in town.. I took last night off and I'm taking most of today. Its wonderful!

But I thought it meant that it will not be in a tub of phenol formaldehyde formalin, what ever chemical the body is in...

Thanks. I think that the place where the cadaver is placed is in a giant solution to keep it preserved, but I maybe wrong... someone else can help me out...

That is great!👍 I took yesterday off also, since I was tired. Wait, you guys have 2 people to a body?
 
Its still going to splash. We got one of the "juicier" cadavers. Although he's on a table built to drain, there is still buildup of liquid. Also, if you're keep your cadaver moist enough you should experiencing some pooling of liquid.

we have 4 to a body, but we alternate dissections, so we are in duos actually working 🙂

Oh, OMBD, chocolate metromint water is awesome. It is like drinking chocolate mints... yeah I don't know how to describe it except for the fact that it is amazing. Much better than the cherry mint.
