Are you guys wearing clothes under your scrubs for Anatomy lab? I get cold really, really easily and I'm worried about freezing the entire time. I think I need to buy some cheap clothes for layering.

Hehe, yeah, I shiver through lecture all the time and the anatomy lab's even colder than the lecture room!

Hrm, true. That would help a lot. I don't want to be the only one wearing a lab coat though... But it does seem weird to me to only wear short sleeved scrubs while digging through a human body.

I'm probably going to get cheap undershirts and stuff like that at Wal-Mart before we dig in. Anatomy labs are a little chilly!
 
Hmm, for anatomy atlases, I have one and am contemplating a second. I have Rohen's photographic atlas which is amazing (full of photographs of prosections). I'd like an illustrated one to add to that, though, as a more schematic guide to the whole thing. I'm about to start coursework on an applied anatomy masters, though, so be advised that I may go for more books in general than the average student will need.

I also have Ross's histology (our school uses Junqueira, which I'm told is straight to the point and shorter), which is very thorough, and I just picked up a color atlas of histology which seems like major win, for those of you interested in it.


As to anatomy garb, I just wear scrubs and a tank top. 😀

speaking of walmart I just got back from there, and I think it's official that (at least in my area) walmart is the trashiest grocery store ever.

(I'm pretty sure some kids were trying to buy drugs off me in the parking lot😱)

just think back to the days before lister and semmelweis-- I'm sure people dug through all sorts of stuff with their bare hands then just washed them afterwards! :scared: hope they scrubbed under their fingernails...

I have gone out with my med school friends more in this past month than probably a year in undergrad....life is weird here :laugh:

I start Anatomy a week from tomorrow 👍
 
i wish it were possible to condense eating and working out into a one hour block so i can achieve those things on a daily basis. i'm feeling the weight gain already.

Yeah... In one of the dissection videos we're supposed to watch (video 1), the guy was definitely not wearing gloves. 😱 The lady in video 4 is, though.

I bought some t-shirts at Target today and bought some leggings to go under my scrubs. I'll find out tomorrow if that's warm enough for me.

Embrace it. I bought a bread machine. If I'm going down, I'm taking the rest of the class with me!!!:meanie:
 
damn it ! i was hoping to lose some weight once school started because i wouldnt be sitting on my lazy a*s on the couch all day LOL

Yea, they didn't really tell us how it worked either. Usually the school gets half of your loan now, takes out half of tuition, and directly deposits the rest in your bank account. That was a damn fun weekend 😎.

Yup, went out 6 of the last 7 days (got sick in the process 🙁) but had a blast and met a lot of cool people.

I was also quite particular about getting my room in order before classes started 😛

I'm probably going to wear a T-shirt underneath or something. I tend to sweat easily so I need an extra barrier 😛
