Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Too bad I can't give you any of my extra food. I only have about 4 days left of living in my apt for the semester but about 1 week of food.

I still have 100+ meals left on my meal plan. Come up to BR and you'll be set, Luun.

Damn! I totally would too. But I don't have access to my car. If I did, I'd probably ask my family for a little money for food for the next week and then head to the grocery store... 🙁

In Virginia! I think this is the first time I've stayed in a hotel room by myself. My cab driver was a legit loon. He kept cursing people off and then when this guy was going the wrong way down a one way street he rolled down his window and shouted "Watch where you're going you f*****. This is a one way street, motherf*****." Then when he went to shake my hand when I got out [which, is that normal?] he pulled me in a little too close....good times.

Hi everyone.
Good sunday? It has been so far for me....my brain hurts from a 4 hour review session for inorganic but at least I feel like I GET THIS stuff now.

Oh how I am going to love next semester....when I don't ever have to deal with symmetry or character tables ever again!

Do you have a rollover meal plan?? I remember that Georgia Southern did a rollover type meal plan. Unfortunately, UGA doesn't do that!
I have rollover for "dooley dollars" ....like 200 left....I wont have a care in the world about food next semester...probably will have to spend it all on odwallas and Dominos pizza to use it all up! Luun...you are welcome to my future pizzas 🙂

ps...some ridiculous threads popped up while i was gone!!! all on the topics that have been discussed before....the cycle continues!

That's not normal.

Usually I have no food at the end of the semester, so I'd be all "ooh give me some" - but this time I have a lot.

Are you one of those that entices random juniors and seniors to use some of your meals?

I will gladly give up my meals to anyone that wants them. And I promise at this time next semester, I'll have just as many left over. So don't have extra food and I'll hook you up.

No. I have a massive meal plan and a kitchen. I don't really eat in the dining halls a lot, though I should.

It is unfortunate that you are so far away... I could use some free food.

We didn't have a rollover plan at my undergrad either. It sucked 🙁 There's only so much candy/snacks I can buy at the end of the semester without being a total fatty.

Is anybody else starting to get really annoyed at Fox advertising Avatar so damn much? The movie looks like complete crap and Fox is sweating its nuts so bad.

To me, the plot of Avatar is the She's All That of action movies.

i think south park did a great job comparing it to dances with wolves(smurfs)

haha that's awesome

So on my flight from LA--> Houston there was a medical emergency on board. Idk what happened but the kid was around our age. Flight attendant asked any doctors, nurses or paramedics to ring their call buttons. This made me wonder: how often do medical emergencies happen on planes? Is it not often enough to justify having an EMT or someone on board just in case?

Seeing as I've never seen a medical emergency after having flown several times... probably not. The likelihood that a doctor or EMT might be on board anyways seems relatively high. To salary an EMT or someone like that seems like it would probably wind up raising ticket prices for everyone, which I think most people would be against.

i'm sure there are people whose job it is to calculate whether it's more profitable to staff every flight or to risk flight diversion should there not be an MD onboard by chance.

Hmmm... that's an interesting thought. I've been on a plane with a medical emergency for an older lady before. But to employ an EMT for that purpose would probably be reflected in an increase in ticket prices.

Yea...over the last 5 years I've flown 5-6 times a year...and have never had an emergency meriting an announcement.
Although I will say that they need to be better prepared to at least handle the mild emergencies.....I know from experience that they have neither tylenol or anything like that or bandaids....good luck if you are bleeding to death through your finger.

ksmi and metallica: Do most people at LSU live on campus even as juniors and seniors?

No. I think ksmi is the only person/upperclassman I know that lives on campus.

I've lived off campus my entire time here, and so have most of my friends. Most people live on campus for the 1st year, then move off afterward. Some stay for 2 years, and many times the ones that stay the whole 4 years have room and board scholarships.

oh ksmi...i was fb stalking you just now and wondering.....were those funny/crazy profile pictures there before or was i completely blind when i fb stalked you before lol
:laugh::laugh::laugh:

What he said. Very few people live on campus even 2 years. There is way too much affordable housing around campus for people to want to live on campus. Also, there's a severe shortage of housing on campus so they don't try to keep us that much. They were even all set to make living on campus as a freshman a requirement this year but had to cancel that because they realized they didn't have enough room for all the freshies even if they kicked off all the upper classmen.

On a related note, my cousin is starting undergrad next year at a school that requires you to live on campus til you are a senior. I find that very strange.

That's weird. I never lived on campus.

I don't think I've added any recently. Which ones are you referring to? I have a lot where I make strange faces. I think it's because I get so tired of smiling for colorguard pictures that I never want to in any other picture.

My thing about places forcing you live on campus is that you're going to college to learn independence and freedom. Being semi-babysat won't help that.

Although I do feel that certain people need the transition period of the dorms instead of going straight into apartment life.

Oh, ksmi another question/request that is going to sound weird:
Do you have a scale? I was wondering if you could weigh your/our laptop. 😀

That's weird. I never lived on campus.
I still live on campus....in an apt though 🙂

haha I think I just saw your colorguard ones before...but your profile pictures are ridiculously cute 😀

ok well gotta go tutor...later peeps!

We did the same at my undergrad. Required freshman-junior year. Then I chose to stay on campus senior year too because I liked waking up 15 minutes before class started and still making it 🙂

 I was wondering what the story behind those picture was.

But you guys still have meal plans?

I do because it's part of my scholarship. Even while living on campus I wouldn't pay for one. I have a kitchen and that's all I need. But I do know people who live off campus that have one. They don't like packing lunches.

Haha, I do. Hold on.

That is strange. We only had to live on campus freshman year. For the most part, it's cheaper to live off campus, so not too many people stayed around unless they were RA's.

That's my favorite thing about where I'm at now, it's like a <5 minute ride to the hospital. For awhile in undergrad I was a 45 min drive away and it was a pain in the ass.

So my laptop wasn't heavy enough for the scale to recognize its presence, so I weighed myself holding the laptop and not holding the laptop. The difference was 6.4 pounds.

Sweet analytical skills, lol. Thanks, that's about what I was thinking.

I want a smaller laptop for my next one, but the only ones that have the features I want are ~5 pounds. I guess that will feel pretty different though.

Where exactly in Virginia are you? 😱

('cause that is so not normal...)

Real creepy. You said he pulled you in closer too, right??

YA. He introduced himself and said, "...and you are?" as he extended his hand. I didn't want to be rude so I shook his and told him my name. And then he sorta tugged at my hand and pulled me in. Then he asked if I would consider calling him to take me to the airport tomorrow and gave me his card. Yea...no thanks.

Welcome to Atlantic fleet command! (but also EVMS?)

Mhm. EVMS interview tomorrow.

SUPER creepy.

EDIT: Maybe he thought that this "friendliness" might bring him more business...

Eh, airport, bottom of the chesapeake... Same thing, right?!

Those were the only people I know that stayed past freshman year.

And me!!!

Yeah, this thing is real heavy to carry around.

i shake hands with all my cab drivers and they always give me their card and ask me to call them (if i want a ride again, nohomo). they are cool though, i like cab drivers. riding in a cab and making conversation with the drivers when i'm ****faced is my favorite part of going out on the weekends. those ppl have some crazy personality.

but yea that cab driver sounded kinda creepy though. remember that one cab driver in NYC that would take drunk girls all over their place and leave their bodies by the Hudson river. that was some scary stuff. you should try to take hotel shuttles or some legit service (they are usually cheaper).

Anytime I travel this is what I use: hotel or airport shuttles. I took a cab once, and maybe it's just me, but it made me very uncomfortable to be alone with the cab driver like that. It's probably just because I'm from a small town though and haven't ever really travelled in cabs.

wow ksmi, just saw your mdapps, great job getting into jhu...just stellar

yea if your hotel doesn't have a comp shuttle, you can even google/expedia the nearest hotel that does and exploit that 😳
