am i the only one who has never pulled an all-nighter? and who always got 7-8 hours of sleep before exams? god i'm lame.

oh, and good morning to all.

Repeated nights with no sleep. I'm so dead tired. And I will be like this until my exam ends on 12/18. FML.

haha i pulled 1 all nighter ever, only because my friend who's a crazy intense studier made me stay up and study for cell and molec with her. other than that, i would usually give up around 2am and assume that was all i was going to know by the exam and go to bed😛 i was a terrible studier in college though-never spread the studying out, always just waiting til the night before most of the time. that will definintely have to change in med school!

oh man, i'm just the opposite! about 8 days before an exam, i would map out which sections i'd go through on which days, and i'd save 1-2 days at the end for re-going over everything.

for finals, i usually had fewer days to study, but more hours per day, so i did the same scheduling type thing. i am not a procrastinator, i guess.

That's sad. I usually remember my dreams. At least bits and pieces of them.

It is sad. I pretty much never have nightmares, I always love my dreams when I remember them.

Heh. I'm chronically sleep deprived, but it's also mostly my fault.

That was my fall semester last year. You'll pull through, promise 🙂

Yeah... it doesn't work very well here. I'm struggling with that change... 😳

your way is definitely better! i kind of figured out how to spread out the studying for the mcat (the 2nd time i took it-the first time i tried my cramming method and it didn't work so well😛), so hopefully i'll be able to do that during med school because i seriously doubt cramming would work haha.

I've only pulled 3 all nighters before. All of them were to finish research papers though. I'm kind of a mix between you and dw when it comes to studying... It's always just depended on the class.

You know, I wonder the same time. I mean, I've never pulled a complete all-nighter, just one partial one. I'm wondering if I could get away with full 7-8 hours of sleep in med school.

Morning! And GUD LUK Pedie!

no you're not the only one! i try to get ~8 hrs every night... i just feel better that way

Yeah, I always SAY I'm gonna do this. Always an epic fail.... I end up doing a 24 to 48 hour slow cram (aka study like I would 8 days ahead of time instead of rushing) and try to get 3 hours of sleep each day lol... You're a better person than me I guess 😳

hahahaha not a better person... just a slower studier

Yes, you absolutely can. Most of my classmates do. I'm just an unusually bad crammer 😛 It's all about using your time effectively.

In my second year of undergrad, I was up for 100 hours. I have not since pulled an all-nighter.

jeeeesus! is it true that you're technically insane when you stay awake for more than 48 hours or something?

yup. only 1 all-nighter in college. and i wanted to do it just to say i did it.

just sent in some update letters :xf:

do people send in hard copies or .pdf's in emails? I did the latter.

Yeah... why? That's what, 4 days and 4 hours?

I'm not sure exactly where the point is, but yeah, by FOUR days, probably.

well i am off to my interview
wish me luck!
Good luck:luck:
I very rarely remember my dreams 🙁
Same here.

definetly doable the first two years.

I wonder the same thing. I will be sending update/interest letters, and I didn't know which was appropriate. I will probably send PDFs in emails though (so long as that's not inappropriate).

Spurs, have you done any thinking about specialty? Have you had any workshops/been assigned a mentor, etc from your school?

Only a little bit; there's still a ton I haven't been exposed to. My preceptor is a pediatrician, and that's been fun, but again I want to experience a lot of other things too. Strangely enough, some of the genetics Baylor is doing is incredibly cool, but I don't know enough about what a geneticist does on a day-to-day basis to know if it's something I'd be interested in.

There have been lots of workshops available, but I haven't gone to many of them cuz I've been busy with other stuff. I was sad though that I missed the "deliver a baby" opportunity 🙁 Not that I want to do that ultimately, but it seems cool as a med student.

Honestly, I don't know. Most of the stuff I'm being exposed to seems interesting 🙂

Cool.

Last chance for the glory of a bowl game as a student...

Yeah. It's one of those meaningless years.

We don't get mentors til' later. We have lots of workshops presentations though. I skipped last weeks (med/peds) but I usually go, they're pretty good most of the time.

I'm already somewhat less than sane, so I probably wouldn't notice the difference... 😏

Whoa... Why??

Computer science project was more complex than I thought it was. Ten-point penalty per day late.

cause he is EXTREEEEME

No, she's not.

There coming to take me away, haha, hehe...
