I remember someone saying that when an OP was asking about mentioning that they are foreign. Made me laugh like whoa! and then scared a little bit but mostly laugh like whoa!
 
I wonder how much people will complain when they open med schools to more international applicants. Can anyone say the world is flat?
 
What exactly does get someone to be counted as non-trad? I go to a 5 year undergrad since we have co-ops..Does that count?

I don't really know, I just figure it's bound to happen in the future. I mean look how well engineering international students have done. We have a ton of smart people come here to go to lots of our schools, and frankly, I don't see why it doesn't happen in medicine. Ok, maybe there's a language barrier, but I think that really only goes but so far.

oh man flip cup is a little dangerous....my friends and I played it recently at a bar and somehow we drank 6 pitchers between the 6 of us.
I didn't even realize this until I counted the empty pitchers all over the table. oops!
 
You know what's really dangerous? Landmines...that game will f you up

What know what even more dangerous about it? Being like me and not liking beer. So I'll play with my mixed drinks. Last time, said drink contained Ever Clear. Most f-ed up I've ever been. Don't do it.
 
you'll start liking beer, in a couple of years your tolerance of hard alcohol will decline like crazy. hooray beer

haha I remember when I didn't like beer. lol
I used to chase my vodka/rum/tequila/151 with those odwalla superfood juices....delicious!
 
So this semester, my apartment has been magically creating things. There was an ISDS book on our coffee table for the longest time. Then we realized that it didn't belong to any of us. Also, a jacket that doesn't belong to any of us appeared last week. But best of all at the beginning of the semester, we found one of these:

And I get it because I'm the only one that likes it. 😀

ksmi has a magical apartment. Jolt got a 75% scholarship from Vandy. And there's serious hate of non-trads going on in the Pre-Allo forum. That's all I can remember. 🙂

EDIT: Oh, and flip cup is dangerous. Especially if played with mixed drinks.
 
Anyone know a good method for interwebz flippycup? Webcams?

Is this just because I want to see people try to do it with hard liquor? Maybe.

haha that would be cool, but i feel like there would be delay. you would have to do it on per flip basis (which wouldn't account for the chugging time + you can't poison other team's beer)

Well and there's always the possibility that this isn't considered "social drinking" anymore.

The only thing I could think of is to use chat and have some codeword when you finish..then each team's order would have to be kept straight and...eek.

haha i love this. i used to get all bent out of shape when this stereotype got thrown around...then i realized that i talk like that all the time! (watching yourself talk on video is very telling, and weird).

so moral = stereotypes are mostly true

haha yea. except I am so pale that I am nearly see through, can't swim and def do not smoke the "good stuff" which makes me talking like that extra hilarious.

I'd complain. Not on SDN, and to myself. And obviously private schools can do whatever they want.

I agree with you on principle, but I think we need to increase the amount of seats in medical school in general. However, I think you also have to consider where the funding is coming from (even private medical schools get huge government funding) and medical schools lose money to train a doctor. Considering the huge shortage, I think its in the best interest to accept people who are likely to serve the needed areas (and I'm not an URM btw, but they are definitely proven to go work in an urban community over non-URMs, and rural applicants to disconnected areas).

Accepting more international kids is not just an issue of taking in non-tax payers but training people who might leave the country to practice. I acknowledge that probably all of them make terrific physicians but I think training outside of the country + taking boards + doing residency might be better for everyone.

Some idiot keeps texting me in lolspeak. I was stupid and texted him back telling him I wasn't whoever it was he was trying to text. He was all like: "lol."
 
Friday night, just got back from teh school.

Now to eat a candy bar.

Then study.

Perhaps drink some coffee while studying.
